Shimano 3S Internal Hub Adjustment
I'm working on a vintage bike with a 3-speed Shimano internal hub. I watched some videos and was able to get the shifting set, I thought. But I am finding that when riding, the shifting really lags. Inside when the bike is propped, the shifting is responsive and accurate. In practice, it takes maybe 5 seconds for the shift to happen, and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. I bring it back inside and prop it up and it goes back to being responsive.

Yes, it is. Will the cold temperatures outside affect the shifting? I definitely realized that it affected my new brake pads on the steel rims. I just about killed myself going down an incline that ended in a garage door On that note, do you have experience with Kool Stop Continental brake pads for cold weather?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes, especially if it's old dried out lubricants in the hub. Steel rims just plain suck for braking, continentals elevate it a step above Fred Flintstone

Otherwise it might be old dried up lube. I recently overhauled a Sturmey Archer 5-speed hub and it would shift a lot crisper after a clean and lube. Bonus points for replacing some of the springs like the clutch spring if you can find them.
