Bike to match team kits?
For those of you with team kits, do you try to match your bike colors to the team's kit or do you buy whichever bike you like best without regard to your team's colors? In other words, how important is it for your clothing to match your bike?

Get a black bike... that way you can change tape and cages to match whatever you want to wear

Why do you want to be so matchy-matchy anyways? As if you do all the research, find the bike that has the best fit, feel, and geometry for you, but oops nope, they don't have it in the blue, green, and hot pink my current team is currently using! Almost all the teams in my area change their entire "colorway" (a stupid made up bikespeak term) every few years, or the sponsor changes, which means a complete redesign and new color scheme. Is this a serious question?

For years and years my team had orange either as a main color or as an accent because of a sponsor. This season we got a new sponsor and changed our color to a blue-green that's not quite Celeste, but close enough. I've been trying to convince my wife that's why I need a new Bianchi.

Bikespeak? You've lived a sheltered life, never to have heard the term 'colorway' outside of cycling.... Funny you mention it though, as I've heard it from decorators and product reps often enough, but don't recall ever hearing it in the context of bikes. Evidently it's a serious question with members of your local teams!

The amount of "world champions" I see on the road every day though makes my eyes bleed.

I’ve never tried to color match with my bike but one of the clubs I happen to be a part of has a kit that basically matches my bike’s paint job. I may look like an Easter Egg, but think that I can now be deemed the most colorful cyclist in the valley!

I liked to be "matchy matchy" but not all the time.

Fortunately for me, my favorite team happens to currently ride my preferred bike, so that works out well. I tend to agree with this, personally:
However at the end of the day, wear whatever you want that makes you happy. Although I agree with the thought that you shouldn't wear champion/stage jerseys unless you earn them.
For me, when I go out to break Rule 17, I shatter that sucker and quite enjoy myself doing so.
You will look like a hubbard if you are riding a team kit without the bike brand to match.

I don't mind people wearing just a team jersey too much, it's basically the same thing as wearing your favourite football team's shirt. And I love my retro Mapei jersey .
