Gonna revive this old thread...
I've had three Lemonds. My current rider is a 96 Zurich. Paint was rough so I had it resprayed dark blue metallic.
Second one I had shortly was a 2005 Lemond Sarthe. It was great but I went back to the Zurich.
Last but not least I just got my hands on a Della Santa Team Z. Got very lucky. Want to open this one up to discussion a bit. I confirmed with Roland that he built it, but he seemed to think maybe the paint wasn't original. Then I saw RJDavis' DS Team Z and it made me think mine was original after all. It has the same metallic dark blue on top, dayglo on the bottom. Some of the smaller details are different from his (brake bridge, bb shell) but I suppose that's due to DS being a small outfit. He said he had inconsistent sources during that time.

Nice collection of LeMond's...
However, is that Z-team replica actually a replica? My gut, sadly, is that it isn't. I don't mean to piss on yer chips, but all Z LeMond's from the day, whether they were Billato or Della Santa built, had "LEMOND" pantographing etched into the frame:
1 - Dropouts
2 - Top of seatstays
3 - Sometimes bottom bracket shell
4 - Fork crowns
5 - Sometimes rear brake bridge
I have to say that yours looks like a decent frame that's been repainted and re-decaled to look like a Z-replica. I've never seen any Z-team frame with a Cinelli bottom bracket shell. Sorry! Really hope I'm wrong!

What I'm really wondering is if the paint is original. Mine is so close to yours. My serial number is DS 123. What's yours?

Well since this has popped up again. Let me share my latest, and fifth, Lemond.
This is a 1994 Lemond GLX in Team Gan configuration. Built with wonderful Excell GLX tubing by Billato in Italy. Some of these were built as a limited edition set of 100 but I haven't been able to determine if that's what this is. Mine is built up with a really nice Campagnolo Racing T setup.

Excell tubing, good stuff no longer available:

Why don't you start a thread in our Classic & Vintage forum with your question, those guys are good at those kinds of things.

Here's one a bit different.
The pics don't really capture it but this is a full metal flake paint job. Has some honest wear but it so much better than the paint job on my 2000 Zurich.

That baby is pur dee.
This is a great thread - LeMonds are it for me. Especially their 853 frames which are renowned for their smooth ride. Then there’s their full titanium frames, which are underrated to the point of almost being forgotten.
Here’s one of my LeMonds - an 01 Zurich. I just did a budget build with some 9 speed 105 I had laying around. Nothing fancy yet it’s easily the best riding bike I ever had...
Until I bought my ‘02 Tete de Course. I’ll post some shots of her later this week.

Yah..that's nice. That color combo is "it"...if I run across one locally I'd buy it, simply because I like the way it looks.

New to me
Just grabbed this 2004 LeMond Tourmalet off Craigslist after shopping around for one for a long time. This is the bike an hour after purchase...
I am replacing bar tape and saddle soon but having a difficult time coming up with good color combinations to go with the green/silver frame.... Suggestions? I was thinking green/orange/white.

Heres my 02 Tete de Course. Built it this winter, have maybe 400 miles on it. 10 speed Force with Red crank, SRAM S30 wheels (sans ugly decals). Super comfy and pretty svelt at about 16 and a half pounds. Not too bad for an old timer.

Its name is a bit of a cruel joke, as the Fillmore is named after one of most brutal hills in San Francisco. But for some, this singlespeed, track-style bike is ideal. The Fillmore makes a great city/messenger ride, ready for even the biggest climbs and descents - if you've got the legs! Plus, this double-butted chromoly steed features a smooth-riding track fork and dual-pivot brakes for sure-fire stopping.

Here's my 1996 Zurich, couldn't believe I snagged it here. Pretty much original when I got it, sans saddle. I swapped off the cassette, chain, and big ring to get tighter gearing. Someone want to enlighten me on the goofy seat post clamp
Saving my pennies for a groupset upgrade, the old tricolor is getting old but still awesome.

That's definitely an aftermarket (quick-release?) clamp. Looks out of place to me, but I guess if you frequently remove the seat post then it would be handy.

Not mine, but one I got for one of my daughters with a craigslist tip from a post here on BF's over a year ago. A great deal in this condition for just $80. They each have a +1 now
