Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Frame looks at least a size too small on that Specialized...

The front end is like a giraffe having a look over a very tall tree!

I have triples on my two bikes. I have not used Shimano with a triple so I can't comment on how well the front shifts and the trim ability of the higher end groups. With Campagnolo it works very well. I use a 53/42/32 up front with 11-26 on one bike and 12-26 on the other. I stay in the 42t ring a lot where as someone on a compact will be switching back and forth from the 50t to 34t. The 32t granny ring is quite close to a 36t but one cog down (32x21 = 36x23).

That is a classic example of "You should ride a XXcm frame. Hey, here's a XX-1cm that would be perfect for you!" ie: I don't have the size you need, but I gotta move these bikes!

Bike should be 1 or 2 sizes larger.

The sizing looks alright to me, the rider could have a weak back and longer arms. That looks like a 130mm stem, flipped up like that, it probably acts the same as a 120 that's de-flipped. It looks like the normal amount of seatpost showing on it, too.

It's a 56 cm frame. Just few notes about me, my inseam is 32.5 inches and yes I have a long torso and long arms. I am 6' 1" too.(used to to be swimmer in high school). Also I am 49 years old and my back isn't what it used to be. The ride is very comfortable. Like I said I am very happy with it. All I need to do is get the engine into shape.

Okay I'm back. Thanks for fixing the link to my pic. Mine was the Trek 1600 with the flag and the triple.

Someone said it should be a Chinese flag or something. Geez, I'm American so I never really thought about using another flag. Maybe next time.

Regarding the triple... the '07 Trek 1600 came with 105 components. I negotiated an upgrade to Ultegra, but the crank was a triple that was in stock. It's better than a 105 triple. One of these days it will wear out and I'll get a Sram Rival group... with a double.

Yep, it's sad about Blackwell. They make/made good wheels. The Blackwells are for racing. My Mavic Ksyrium Elites get me by day to day. The Blackwells made for a better pic.

Thanks again for fixing the pic link.

Full Campy Group, mostly Chorus with Centaur for good measure.
Eats up the road quite nicely.

first road bike

2008 Devinci Silverstone 2

Pretty excited for the snow melting so I can get out for a ride. It's my first road bike, and I know zero about the sport at this time but can't wait. I tried the mountain bike thing but it's just too nuts for me.
