Unique Pedals??
So my friend just bought these because he likes pedals and had never seen them before. Anyone have any info on them?

Those were the first thing that popped in my mind when I thought unique pedals. I found some at a garage sale, but the guy wanted something like $60 for them. He mentioned that they were terrible to actually use, but they go for a lot on ebay becuase they are strange.

Indeed, CHEAP Octopus C-dale pedals, just to have something on the bike at the LBS so if someone did not have pedals, there was something to use....Kind of silly if you ask me, if they don't work well, what a GREAT way to demo a new, EXPENSIVE Bike to a potential customer (being that they didn't bring their own pedals and shoes....a newbie!)

Are they alloy or plastic? I thought they might have been some sort of BNX or Freestyle pedal. Seems a bit over the top for a showroom pedal.

I found that info AFTER I started this thread...I was also hoping to we some other different pedals.
They are alloy. And actually, after discovering what they were for, I think it is BRILLIANT marketing to draw the attention of new cyclists to their bicycle...and then to include a "limited edition" pedal (to be replaced) for collection. Something like, "You can only get these if you buy our bike".

listen no doubt they are strange - but i wonder what makes them 'terrible' in use - i mean i would assume they would function the same as any other flat platform style pedals

Are the pads on a flat plane, or was this an attempt at an ergo pedal like the ergon pedals?

I've seen you do this a few times now, so I'm increasingly doubtful its an autocorrect error. How do you get BNX? I can reverse engineer "shipmano", but BNX has me stumped.

Weyless
I have always liked these Weyless pedals from the mid-70's. Very light, high quality pieces. Their sealed bearings are still smooth as silk.

Ism restoring my 1970 Robin Hood to be my daily commuter...needs lots of TLC....after a good cleaning I made some custom wooden pedals to match the front and err wooden racks...

Looks like poplar? I would also say they're going to get slippy in the wet. Might want to cut some grooves into them or something.

Pretty as they are I'm sure they would be slippery. If the bike is for show no problem, if its actually a daily rider they would get annoying quickly.
