Should I go to white bar tape?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Should I go to white bar tape?

So, I've been thinking of replacing the bar tape on my Cannondale with white. What do you think?

I would say stick with black or maybe blue before white.

Try white, it's only fifteen shmooks. If you hate it, lose it.

Oh, and get it dirty immediately, really grime it up so it looks like you ride all the time, so people will think you're a cycling badass.

Ok, I'll try the white. As long as I have to go through the hassle, what about changing out that old style Cinelli stem and those 65-38 criterium bars? I'm thinking of one of those adapters for 1" threaded that will allow me to use a 1 1/8" threadless style stem. Then I can get some of those moustache bars and mount them real high by turning the stem upside down.

What do you think?

thanks.

No, they're not track bars, they are Cinellli #65 which is a criterium bend. When I was building the bike up back in 1997 I noticed them hanging in a local LBS (Boone in Houston) and figured to try them out. I like them. I couple years ago I picked up some Giro d'Italia bars (Cinelli #64) to replace them with because the Giro bars have more traditional shape and have a longer flat section at the top, but I never got around to changing them. Also got a 90 cm stem to shorten the reach up a little, but never got around to installing that either. I've been thinking of trying one of the more relaxed Nitto drop bars -- "noodle" or something, but then I'd have to get a new stem and that's just too much to contemplate all at once. Maybe if I make a five-year plan or something I'd be able to handle it.

I'm not really considering going the threadless stem/moustache bar route. That was sort of a joke.

Tressostar rocks ------- you can pull that stuff really tight. Another alternative is hockey stick tape. We use to get that stuff on some really big rolls for cheap. If you go with the cloth, wrap from the top of the bar to the bottom for the no tape look. Lp

White is much faster than two-tone or black. Don't use blue, it is the slowest color...except purple but who would use that anyway? Maybe Prince but I believe he rides a child's bike.

Green Apple is the only choice. And paint the hydrant too, while you're at it.
