Über die Grenze; a retro bikeride organized here in Huissen, near Arnhem, near the German border (hence the name, I suspect ).

Big link, probably easier to find it on FB. Bike should be 30 yrs old, and probably be steel. It'll be about 70 kms, I think. I dont suspect the organizers to turn you away if the bike is, say, 25 years old.

25th of august, 2019.

We're getting close to the Retroronde date. Who's going?

Mrs non-fixie and I are getting our bikes ready and testing our legs for the 80k around Oudenaarde. We'll both be honoring our hosts by riding Belgian machines. Mrs non-fixie will be astride her Devos, from Handzame:

And I'll be riding my Visser Vainqueur, with a frame which came from the Martens shop in Zwevezele:

We will be in Brussels tomorrow on a layover. Oh well. We are flying tonight from NYC to Brussels and then from there to Budapest. On the 12th, we go from Budapest to Paris, and then on the 16th, from Paris back to NYC. Oh well. Here is a virtual wave as we almost pass each other.

This time next week mrs non-fixie and I will be packing for the Retroronde. Expect to arrive in Oudenaarde on Friday afternoon. We're really looking forward to it.

In the meantime @ExPatTyke has put up a nice report from the Gert Lush. Thanks for that!

Mrs non-fixie and I just got back from Oudenaarde. We were a bit sad that there was no more Saturday crit race on the town square this time, but I guess the that was too much to ask in these risk-averse times ...

The Sunday ride was great, as always. Will post a seperate thread when pics are back from the developer.

Next up: Eroica Limburg. Any chance of meeting fellow members there?

you may want to add the "Velocipedia" at Moulins, FR (border Burgundy/Auvergne), in May to that list. I attended more or less out of chance this year and found it delightful. It is organized by the folks from "tontonvelo" and is a conglomerate of a classic ride (of course), symposia, exhibition and market.

here's some pics and movies i shot:

Thank you, @martl! Added it to the list, if only to have a reminder for next year. Looks like fun!

The mrs and I will be leaving for Eroica Limburg tomorrow. Got the bikes ready today. Mrs non-fixie will be on her DeVos. I swapped the 25mm Veloflex Masters on the Devos for a pair of 30mm Strada Biancas, as Eroica Limburg traditionally serves up some pretty rough roads. I recently found a long cage version of the 6207 RD that was on it, so I could lower the gearing as well. Its lowest gear is now a prise directe: 32-32.

I'll be taking the Vittorio Strada, which I fitted with a 6200 Arabesque group. Lowest gear is 38-28, so keeping up on the steeper bits will be a challenge.

And as temperatures are expected to be well into the nineties on Saturday, the day of the ride, I added an extra water bottle to both bikes as well.

So, how did it go? There was a "local" walk here on Saturday (exodus huissen) and it looked hot...
Sunday was better but (for me) but still hot (triathlon Gendt).

Wow velocipedia looks great! Bob and I are currently on motorway heading to Anjou. We started streaming BBC 6 music last night and send an email into the show that was celebrating the start of the tour de France with lots of Belgium and bicycle related. music They read out my email about 2 vintage cyclists so we have an excellent start to our weekend! Hopefully on this one I'll remember to take a few more photos... Happy weekend everybody!

Mrs non-fixie and I have just arrived in Saumur. The whole town is geared up for Anjou Velo Vintage.

Many a shop window has a bicycle in it ...

Even the hairdresser sports a set of wheels:

View of the venue from the bridge over the Loire:

And from close up:

Getting our tickets for "Marcel Anselle". Looking forward to tomorrow!

I was trying to get to Anjou recently. A potential OEM is based there. Unfortunately, it didn't work out. Too much of a bar for them to get to where we want. Oh well, maybe for a different project.
