Trash Frame Find
Found a used kid's bike bike in a neighbor's trash last night. The steel frame is heavy but looks to be in pretty good shape. I took off all the rusty components last night, pretty much taking it back to frame only.
Horizontal dropouts on the rear. Rear wheel/tire is 18" with a coaster brake. Appears to work, but needs an overhaul.
Headtube appears to be 1" ID. No front fork/tire with the bike, but in the trash I also found a 20" wheel/tire (but no bearings).
Thinking of building up a kid's bike with 20" front tire & 18" rear tire. This would be for my daughter, who's got some time before she's big enough to ride it. Any suggestions/recommendations?
Below are some of the details on the frame:
Brand: Next
Model #: 8508-4C
Colors: Pink / Grey
Labels: "86" and "Clutch" labels on bike
Manufacturer: Dynacraft
Manufacturing Location: China
Manufacturing Date: July 25, 2005
Found Dynacraft's owner's manual for 12" - 24" BMX bikes (attached), but been unable to find any additional photos/details online concerning this bike. I'll post photos of what I've got (frame & wheels) tonight.
Here's the replacements fork & stem I'm looking at thru Niagra Cycle:
Fork -- Sunlite 20" Mx Fork, Threaded, Length 1-9/16", 1" Od, Chrome, Non-Canti
Stem -- Sunlite Steel Touring Stem, for 1", 22.2mm quill
