I think I'm going to be in Dallas on 9/29 so not sure I will be back in time for 9/30... i'll have to wait a few days to figure that out.

Saturday Oct. 6th is another possibility

It would be very fitting of Bike Forums to do the event on the date that the guy who suggested the event is unavailable.

No it wouldn't and that was never suggested.

My statement was a matter of fact not an endorsement for doing the ride on that date. See post #29

OK, I'm in for 9/30. No Dallas trip for me, woo hoo! Although I do need to scrounge up two more nights in a hilton to keep my lofty silver status.

We should really ride on Bayside in Corona del Mar to avoid PCH thru there. That's what we did last time. Here is my Strava:

I've done bayside and I've not done bayside... not sure I really care either way. Same with Cliff but that was on there already from last time so I left it. We can certainly do it!

We'll need to remember to check the train schedule the week prior to make sure metro isn't doing any silly maintenance. Also, our trip is smack between two military exercises - I assume the bike path adjacent to the base will be open. I'm OK with the 8 miles between Las Pulgas and Harbor but I'm really not interested in doing any more than that.

That climb through Laguna with the bumper-to-bumper weekend traffic is where you can really get your heart rate up, though.

The only service advisory is for the Antelope Valley Line, 9/29 - 11/4. Shouldn't bother us.

For the OC Line,
Train 665 departs Oceanside @ 1:24pm, arrives Anaheim 2:39pm
Train 667 departs Oceanside @ 5:36pm, arrives Anaheim 6:51pm

For the Inland Line,
Train 858 departs Oceanside @ 2:51pm, arrives Anaheim Canyon 4:16pm
Train 860 departs Oceanside @ 4:28pm, arrives Anaheim Canyon 5:42pm

As the Anaheim Canyon station is less than half a mile from the SART, and less than 5 miles from the ARTIC, that opens up more options for the return trip.

Bayside, just a lot nicer, both traffic wise and scenery than PCH in CDM.

Yes, have to watch for train service interruptions. Agree Las Pulgas to Harbor on the 5 but hopefully the rest of the bike route is available.

The inland line trains also stop in Orange which is just a couple miles from ARTIC, so lots of options.
@jcb3, are you in?

Well, it's good to have options!

If we get done at pizza port early enough we can head over to breakwater (adjacent to the oceanside metrolink station) and do some more damage there.

SERVICE NOTICE: Download the metrolink app to your phone and install a credit card before you go, it's just easier. The train charge is $10 all day for a single weekend day. You just buy and activate the ticket right before you get on the train.

going south, at about estimated time, the wind should be on our backs. Should give a bit of boost on that 7 mile stretch.

So no one has a pendleton pass? (Either the new one or old email registration, which should still be good thru 9/30)
