Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

For years we would not match them but that was just letting folks walk out the door. Eventually we did but again much like the Team Performance, at what cost. Great examples were Continental tires and Shimano cassettes. Someone would come in and I would match the lower price and then they would use points. We would lose money. The loyalty program was examined when we were purchased but I guess the math said we would lose more customers if we jettisoned it.

Someone could surely buy that end of the business though and make it work all day long. In my opinion, rebuilding the vendor relationships is going to be the struggle. So much money is owed.
I've bought a lot through Nahsbar over the years. Recently the difference in experience between then and more mainstream e commerce like Amazon or Ebay is glaring. The Nashbar order process and especially customer service and returns makes me fee like I'm dealing with a catalog company in the 80's. I have had several stupid order mistakes recently like ordered 120mm stem and got 80mm even though everything is correct on the order and packing slip. No email or chat support, have to call them to do a return. The person working the phone sounds like my grandmother and takes 10 minutes to set up a simple exchange. They did just send the correct part and not ask for the wrong one back. I assume that's because it's less complicated in their system but if that's how they do all returns it must be a massive loss.

If I need to return something to Amazon, I go into my account click return and print out a slip and drop item off at my local Kohls without even having to box it up for shipping. Obviously smaller companies don't have Amazon's resources but there should be some middle ground

Well it seems the terms of the bankruptcy is changing by the minute. They appear to be clearing out all store inventory everywhere. Some stores may be sticking around afterwards if their rent is re-negotiated but doubtful. Ideal is trying to hold them accountable for orders made and asking the court not to throw out their obligations. In short it's turning into a poop storm and it's changing by the minute. Keep your eyes on this one.

In other news the GP 5000 is now available to us US retailers and in true form it's already been discounted overseas. Meh. like watching a train wreck.

I was in 2 of the stores over the past week and there were no deals. They had signs showing 10% - 40% off but everything in the store was marked at their highest prices.

A bunch of new rules posted on their site as of yesterday...
• All Sales are Final. No exchanges, no returns* and no adjustment on prior purchases. (*Refunds may only be for merchandise having a latent defect and returned within 7 days of purchase with receipt).
