Padded shorts & Hemorrhoids??

Not sure where to post but I thought I would start here.
Currently on tour in fraFra and this is the second time this has transpired. My Hemroids start to flare up but as soon as as I stop wearing padded shorts there is no problem.
Wondering if anyone else has any expyy with this?
My thinking is the chamois creates more consolidated pressure??

Could be, but I doubt it. My guess is that you get pretty dry during a day's ride, and if you don't concentrate on drinking enough, you stool gets dry, and hard, and that makes the hemorrhoids flare up.

Maybe you need the free medical advice forum?

My Touring months, shorts 'chammy' lined, but no 'padding' and I brought 3..

kept riding the Brooks team pro I bought in the mid 70's...

never had that problem..

That's me. I work hard on drinking enough though when I am riding fixed, it often doesn't happen. (In rollers, drinking uphill is physically very hard, downhill I am spinning like crazy; hand stay on the bars, at the top I am way too winded to drink and at the bottom - see downhill.)

I make it a point of weighing myself after rides (and at enough other times that I know what my baseline is).

You might have to much padding in those shorts.

While it would seem that more is better, its actually usually the opposite. A good saddle should be comfortable with minimal padding.

you MIGHT.. and I say MIGHT.. because it's a hard thing to do in mid-tour.. but you might want to try a split seat?

That and Prep H butt bullets is about all I got.. I've had them one time, and they weren't much fun, but a couple bullets a day, and I was fine in about three days..
