Speaking of "if bikes could talk" taking apart the head tube I discovered what appears to be quite fresh "Park" grease, something that I do not think existed in 1985 when this bike was sold. So why service the headset and then drop it off at Good Will? Mystery?
This disassembly was so I could check the size of the headset which is a 27.0, as there was a very nice/exactly the same Hatta Swan headset for sale online that would end a world of work getting the surface rust (not sure pitted) off the current Hatta Swan headset, but alas it was too small.
So probably this was the Angle of Virtue telling me to go through all the forum suggestions on cleaning off surface rust on chrome parts to begin my rust removal sabbatical, the drive side chain stay and one side of the chrome fork lug also have rust to be removed/lived with, while the frame other than frame pump wear marks through the paint has hardly any rust on it.

Maybe some PO did some minor service on the bike, hoping/expecting someone close to them to start using/enjoying it, but said person didn't cotton to it, so off to Goodwill it goes. JAT.
Um, 73 degrees?
...the Angle of Virtue...

"Angle"
LOL, OMG my spelling my mind, that should be "Angel of Virtue" as opposed to the "Devil of Sloth", though some days he seems like a virtue too.
