The tandem is a Sterling (Bilenky Cycle Works) and was custom built--the size is 21x20. The bike is well used, with between 13,000 and 15,000 miles. It has one significant scratch about 1.5 inches long on the stoker seat post from a kid back conversion we used.
The bike was purchased in May 1990, but has barely been ridden since about 2002. It has new tires. The bike has a drum brake for long hills. The fork is not original--it was replaced by Bilenky when the original developed a crack. The frame is chromoly.
In addition to what is pictured, there are two new timing rings for when those are needed, four new water bottle cages, four rolls of handlebar tape, a pair of crank shorteners, a drum brake removal tool,, two additional seats, and a front rack.
Besides many rides around town, we used it for extended trips (including a three week expedition in Nova Scotia).

Vintage Custom Tandem - Mavic, Mafac, Phil Wood, Dura Ace, Cinelli - $750 (West Philly)

I picked up this tandem a few years ago when I was single because it was my size and had all these amazing vintage original parts. Fast forward to now, I'm with someone who's too short to be the stoker, so I have to sell
The parts alone are worth more on eBay than I'm asking, but I'd like to see the bike go in one piece.
This was made by a custom builder in the UK. I bought it secondhand so I don't know much about it's history, but it's in great condition.
Hubs are Phil Wood. Chainset is a rare Dura-Ace tandem cranks and chainrings. Brakes are the infamous Mafac cantilever brakes with the original finned pads. Rims are Wolber Super Champion. The derailleurs are sought-after Mafac pieces that I have seen go for $350+. Handlebars are Cinelli.
Captain is 61cm CTT, stoker is 59cm.

You don't really realize, til you take a close look, how unusual a Schwinn Duo Sport is. Lugs everywhere! U-brakes, with the rear under the chain stays like contemporary MTB's. Suntour drivetrain of the "F-it, let's just copy Shimano" vintage. The mixte-back frame and 27in wheels and Suntour, right about 1989-90 when they all went completely out of style, but it has the fat boom tube.

This is a hand built Bill Holland (of Holland's in San Diego) tandem bicycle sized for a 5'9-6' front rider and 5'5-5'8 back rider. My wife and I have enjoyed riding it and it ready for the next couple. Yup, the old floating chainring is another way to tighten up a worn chain if eccentric can't accommodate the tension properly.

Reluctantly selling my 1980's Westfalen Top Modell tandem bike. This tandem is in beautiful condition, new tires and tubes, freshly tuned and ready to ride. Features a Sachs 3 speed coaster brake hub, dual Aero Continental cranksets, front and rear Weinmann side pull brakes, Pletscher rack, full lighting, chrome fenders, 26" CST Classic E-Bike tires with reflective sidewall. 22" / 21" frame that sports the original air pump, original tool kit, and a rear wheel lock built into the frame. Built and sold in Germany to a high standard with detail and aesthetics that are rare anymore and hard to find.

I think it might be because the original owners are aging out of riding, at least two-up. That can be a lot trickier for those of us who don't bounce on impact the way we used to. I know that's how a friend of mine got a screaming deal on a beautiful Santana from a fellow bike club member. Seller was looking for the bike to go to a good and appreciative home as much as anything.
