This is amazing! This guy has carbon pieces that I didn't know you could even do with carbon fiber.

There is a guy who has 50k miles on a bike like that. Might be the same guy.

He has a long running thread on weightweenies.com.

Most of us get to the point where we'd do better to be weighing ourselves rather than the bike.

Ha! It never changes. I remember on a club ride in 1980 a fellow bragging about his 19# Colnago. A 19# road bike in 1980 was stunningly light - but he was a good 40# over optimum weight for good health.

True. That's definitely the sensible approach. But putting your bike on the diet is so much more fun.

Check out my signature quote by the way.

Yeah whatever. If I had that much money burning a hole in my pocket, I'd take my sweetie (and my current bike) on a LONG trip to Yurp.

I love everything about that bike, except having the finish sanded off - makes me wonder about the frame's longevity.

Bikes have needed to add weight, for meeting the UCI Minimum, for years now..

I was thinking about that as well.
Every ultra-light build I've previously seen always used downtube friction shifters.

Anyone can lose weight, but only a select few can have a bike under 10 pounds.

Seems like a ridiculous amount of work, fabrication, etc. to achieve some marginally real (or perceived) gain. I have no problem with folks doing innovative work because it's both interesting and sometimes leads to breakthrough development; however this video will probably only make some miserable about their 15 lb tanks.

Or perhaps: the vast majority struggle (and fail) to lose weight, but most anybody with a charge card can have a 10 pound road bike.

Besides, 9.5# is really kinda porky for a road bike.

Very few people have the willpower, resolve, and courage to buy a 10 pound bike.

Just what the doctor ordered.

Seriously, after my surgery this week the doctor told me I could ride my bike immediately, but not to lift more than 10-15 lbs.

BRB, checking to see how much my prescription copay is for this bike...

I’d love to take this on my favorite hill ride but would be sure to have my winter bear fat off me and in peak shape so to get a real feel on how this would perform. My lightest bike is the Cannondale at 19 and the Trek 760 at 20. Cant imagine a bike so light.
