interesting mix of geometry. Huge tire clearance, only 69mm BB drop, and high stack. A threaded BB too.

Yeah, Walmart is going crazy!
I read a "specs" review of the mountain bike version on "bicycling" I think it was? Although it looked like a good deal compared to Specialized/Trek, they concluded it was pretty much the same bang for the buck as a Canyon. Of course Canyon makes amazing bikes with Pro-team support (not sure if that is a correlation). Not sure who designs the Viathons, or what their credentials are...

hard to drop $2000 on the frameset without knowing who's the manufacture, that's the same price as Diverge, Checkpoint, and Grail

I paid $2950 out the door for my Giant Revolt Advanced 0 with carbon frame, carbon wheels, and Ultegra drivetrain. How is this Vicodin or whatever its called a good deal compared to arguably the top carbon bike manufacturer in the world?

Your choice-supportive bias is not unfounded.

Brands many , manufacturers few , only thing Walmart can offer after the sale , is a refund..
so, after sale Service, its all not included.. you ought to have it safety checked ,
since Wally just assembles it well enough to go past the Cashier ringing up the sale..

Your local Walmart store isn't stocking the bikes. It is just being sold through their website and even that won't happen for a while.

Pinkbike has a better article about the company.
The bikes are assembled to 98% using Carlsbad, California based company Lucidity to be ready for a home delivery requiring minimal final assembly. The Viathon website hosts a repository of quick-start and assembly instructions and customer service will be offered through support@viathonbicycles.com and on @viathonbicycles social media accounts.

You got quite a deal on that bike, haven't seen it for less than $3,400.
