Tommaso - picked up new frame but what tubing?
Here is the last frame I picked up last week from a guy who sold me the lot. This one is obviously replainted to match the Irish flag. The frame is awfully straight looking and nice and light. There are no decals left but it is obviously a Tommaso which is a brand imported by Ten Speed Drive.
My question is, how can I tell which tubing is being used here? I haven't heard many good, great or bad things about these frames. Any riders still using them?
Here are the photos taken before I cleaned it up. Clean photos to come.

Seat post size?
Looking at the details I would expect it to be either SL or SLX. If you pull the bottom bracket you should be able to feel the raised spiral ridges if it is SLX.

Yep, I was going to say the exact same thing as OFG------embossed details like that are not on lower-end frames, you probably have something made out of SL or SLX. If the seat-post is 27.2, that virtually confirms it.
You lucky guy, that is a sweet frame, colours aside. Are you sure it is re-painted? That sort of 3-colour fade was pretty popular and those are close to the Italian colours. It looks like my old Marinoni from 1987.

Here ya go, I would be pretty sure the tubing is SLX just like mine. Hopefully these shots will help you indentify the frame:
Nice find, they ride smmoth as butter.

I think the only thing the BB shell says on it is "62M"

I pulled the Bottom Bracket and felt the downtube and there is a rifle tubing feel to the inside. How can I tell if it is TSX or SLX? Don't they both have that type of tubing? The paint cleaned really nicely and looks sweet.

I've looked at a bunch of TSD catalog info and from what I can tell, the ONLY bikes that came with 55 square geometry and chromed chainstays were SLX (they called them TSX frames). Mine has the engraving and the 55cm square geometry and the chromed chainstays but has also been refinished. Seller told me it originally came in Lemond team Bottechia colors- neon yellow fade to purple- before it was refinished.

however back to my original point a Tommaso and a Tommasini are two different bikes. some, including me, wouldcertainly conider a Tommasini to be a better bike than the Tommaso.
I beleive Tommasini bikes were imported by Lewis something or other out of Tx and were much more expenive abd better finished frames.
Tommaso was more a production line handbuilt bike imported enmass by 10 Speed Drive (in Fla?)

Tommaso was a brand name given to the Italian frames imported to the US where they were painted and outfitted. They are very good, high quality bikes. I would guess your is SLX. Mine is. Check out these links:

I know this thread is a little old, but I have one that looks a lot like KRhea's but with a red white to blue fade paint scheme. It has full dura-ace and rides great. It's a 60cm frame and has Columbus SPX tubing (essentially SLX but a little thicker on the downtube for better durability in larger frames). So if your's is a 62cm, it's possible your's was made with SPX tubing as well.
