Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? At least on a trainer. With rollers on the other hand, you could just cut them in half if you ever break up, and then you'd just have really skinny rollers. It's actually better for your balance!

I don't feel comfortable with it yet, but eventually I'll start doing it and love it. I love Paul and his crazy love for bikes, and no matter how mediocre we are doing with money, we somehow always support each other's crazy bike purchases.. Bikes make us happy, so we will survive! I think I am going to cry. I'm so silly.

i'm in a pretty similar situation. it's rad being with someone who loves bikes as much as you do and who loves you as much as bikes. i'm disassembling two bikes in the living room right now, and as long as i do the dishes and put the laundry away before she gets home from work like i said, it'll be cool. and then we'll geek out on bike porn on the fgg or something, or work on our stable. the disassembled bikes here will be new members of our family soon.

I think its important to have a GF that understands the summer "saddle mark". It kind of looks like a heart, but its made of sweat and is on your ass.

Seriously though, we just had this discussion on fastermustache.org & came to the same conclusions. The ratio of guys to girls is 3469238930 guy to 12 girls...should work in our favor but doesn't.

If I couldn't ride my bike on a date then I wouldn't go on the date. Riding in skirts is so much fun, not going to lie. I'm working on learning how to ride in heels.

My finance and I have an arms race going on over the number of bikes we each have (she is currently winning - barely). When we first decided to get married I built her a ss conversion, and instead of an engagement ring, I got her a kickass tri/TT bike (Orbea Ordu) that she wanted. On the flip side, she got me a spin bike for my birthday, and lets me buy all the wheelsets and framesets I want without questioning me (well, without too much questioning). It is not necessarily all perfection - she gets worried I am going to be hit by a car (she likes bike paths, I like streets and country roads), and there are plenty of times when I get on some bike rant, and she just goes, "you know, I don't really care about bikes right now," but it is nice to have someone who understands the reason for all the bikes.

This summer we are moving to Madison and buying our first house, and one of the major considerations we are taking into account when looking is where we can potentially store the fleet - priorities.

Yeah I 've got mian to rub cream into my sore spots before, quite worrying what she'll do for me.

Tried to kiss once while riding a country road, handlebars got locked both taking a hard right into a mailbox. Folks in the front yard at a family picnic assured us the box had been trashed by kids with bats long before we nailed it. Tandems can be pretty fun.
