It's a serious balancing act to get my head in the right frame to work on that stuff, though.

Especially my 3sp coaster hubs, they're filthy, abused, and bring me no joy when I crack them open.

You have a source for shimano 3ccc (the 3sp coaster) parts? I've got one with a stripped locknut, and it's some crazy massive size.

I can do everything on my bikes except build wheels. And I'm working on that! Recently I got a nos 90's xt hub that I will build up into a front wheel for my geared bike when i get a truing stand.

Coaster is easy once you've done it a couple of times. 3 speed isn't bad as long as you lay everything out the way to took it apart. I'll tell you what a pain the the @ss is though. Bendix 2sp autos. Just did my first one and had to do it a couple of times to get it right.

I've never replaced a bottom bracket or had to press a headset cause I've never had the need to (yet). pretty much everything else I've done, including wheels. and a lot of stuff I used to go to the shop for I've figured out how to do on my own.

not that i can do everything fast or perfect on the first try

I didn't know what I was doing when I started out, and was replacing BB bearings every two weeks for a while. 20+ years later, I've done everything except weld a frame and face a head tube or BB shell. Complete rebuild of a Shimano freehub is no fun.

I do everything frame building/painting...wheels, frame prep for assembly....etc.
I have all my hand tools at home, but I normally just go to the shop where I worked for a bit and take care of everything there. It is a convenience that I cherish highly.

I do everything, my dining room could be considered a fully functional repair shop. I've got frame alignment tools, a vise bolted to my old kitchen table, headset press, everything. Did I mention I'm a tool fiend?

I do everything I can. I built my first wheelset last weekend for my Schwinn Super Le Tour conversion. Then I completely stripped the bike (except for the headset, though I plan on repacking it this weekend) and rebuilt it fixed (really just putting in the new bottom bracket and putting the cranks back on). Next, I plan on building up a road bike for myself in the next year or so. Building bikes (especially wheels) is fun!

On my fix, I did everything, including wheelbuilding, headset install etc. Except for installing the BB. Tool is too expensive.

Short of wheelbuilding and BB installation, I've done it all the wrong way at least twice so it's starting to become familiar.

Ive do pretty much everything including wheel building, though sometimes I let the shop work on my bike, if they do it for free...
