Fake Brooks saddle? How can you tell?

The Brooks site warns of fakes and copies.

With all the online dealers, how can you tell if you got a fake?

Is Amazon ok? Modernbike.com?

Anyone know?
They have nice prices sometimes.

Amazon can be tricky since they sell their products and "front" for many smaller vendors. Direct from Amazon, probably Ok. Other vendors: I'd trust only if they were a well-known retailer. The same for other web sites. If you've done business with then for years, there's no reason you couldn't trust them for Brooks. You could always call and ask if they are an authorized Brooks dealer. Obviously a "Brooks" on ebay with a Buy it Now price for $49. delivered from Taiwan is likely a fake.

Fake or Stolen.. if the price is too good to be true..

Provenance, ..

Buying from a Bike Shop you know, and like, is a big help.

Ie, not buying online..

I know this is an old thread, but it comes first in the google.
So I have come across fake Brooks Cambium saddle on US Amazon. How can I tell? It was my first Cambium, and it was ok, but three months later I have ordered another one from official site and spotted the significant quality difference: the amazon saddle's edge is rough, the cotton fabric sticks out on the edges a little from under the nylon. Generally it visibly differs from official product pictures. I was bothered too, when receiving first saddle, but just thought it is usual marketing trick. It was not. Can't attach images b/c forums don't allow me (less than 10 messages I have).
Fortunately amazon was quick at opening the out-of-window return for me, not even asking much questions.

One can only hope that the authorities will crack down on the purveyors of these fakes, I don't think I could stand a thread on how to break in a FAKE Brooks saddle.
