Too tall for knickers?

I've been reading about and seeing people riding with the 3/4 pant/knicker - and I got some nice Prana ones of Amazon. I'm wondering though at 6'7" if they're just too small .... any other tall riders wear knickers? I like them, but I'm think on "normal" height folks they come past the knee more...

Heh. You can wear 'knickers' but they will just be 'shorts'.

Why not just wear full lengths or shorts? I don't really see a need for something in between?

There are many days in my area where it isn't cold enough to wear full-length tights but it's still chilly enough that my boney knees need some additional insulation. This is especially true for early-morning rides and "shoulder season" rides in Spring and Fall. I usually wear knee warmers on those days, but I've yet to find a pair that would stay perfectly in place for an entire ride. Knickers are a great alternative to wearing shorts along with knee warmers.

I'd rather just deal with being a bit warm or cool than have a third set of bottoms to choose from, but good luck finding something that suits your desires.

I find I'm comfy in my cycling pants up to about 68 degrees, and shorts I can manage as low as 55 and be acceptably warm, so I've got a lot of overlap in my comfort ranges. If I know I'll be out late I just see what the hourly forecast looks like and make the best call I can from there.

If you have the $$$, these may work:

3/4 Bib Shorts | Rapha

The XXL has a 36" measurement from the crotch to the base of the ankle (not from the floor).

I have a base layer of theirs that I love. They make great products, but they are very expensive.

I'm only 6"4" but my Aero Tech knickers are great. They do go passed my knee to a bit above mid-calf. Like has been said great for Spring an Fall with cool mornings but warm later in the day. I'll try to find a pic.

OOOOPs they aren't Aero Tech I think they are Louis Garneau.

I am on the left.

Thanks for the feedback all. I really like these the feel and the material and the fit even if they're a tiny bit short ... BTW Amazon has these Prana Knickers for 20 bucks ... seems like a really good deal. So ordered another pair and will have my wife cut/sow a pair into shorts.
