What in the world is wrong with brifters? Brake + shifters. I loves em!

Mash
JRA
IGH
Thumbies
Clipless

Some are not acronyms but have bike specific usage.

And does it really sound dumber than "seat stay"?

It doesn't really help that the seat stay doesn't stay the seat, it stays the seat tube, and the chain stays don't stay the chain or anything with the word chain in it. Down tube is just stupid, bottom tube or lower tube would have been better. I guess they didn't want to confuse it with the bottom bracket?

Meantime, I'm still looking for the BABY BOLTS.

Exactly ... or "seat mast" or "track ends."

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that place where lots of us ride, and lots of us dismiss scornfully and make fun of: the MUP.

The chatter is fun, but would be great if the OP would volunteer, since they have the first post, to copy/paste all the acronym definitions into his first post. Alphabetical would be best but is probably pushing it.

Having all the terms Consolidated is more fun than searching since the SEARCH THIS THREAD option will not find two or three letters.

Thank you and now back to the cyclopathic madness.

Moderator, Can this thread be STICKYED? So it doesn’t fall into the abyss.

Since we can’t have brifters, can we instead have “the shakes”?

Some Porsche owners have a real problem with the word ‘funk’ too, but it’s a nice shorthand to differentiate the front trunk for the models which have fore and aft trunks. I guess elephants technically have frunks too.

I always thought it was funny; seat stay, seat tube, seat post, seat clamp(s), saddle.

In cycling many things are a set; wheelset, brakeset, etc.

C&V should actually be on the list. I'm sure many have no idea what this refers to.

Drewing - The intentional cutting off of braze ons/hangers etc from a multi-speed bike to create a "fixie"
