Has anybody got a 16" wheel folding bike I could borrow to test-ride in the Boston area? Like a Brompton or a Dahon, I guess? I have some weird prototype 45/75 R16 radial tires that an engineer on Harvard's fuel mileage championship team gave me. I kind of want to see what they're like on a bicycle, but I have nothing with 16" wheels. I've got nothing in trade, but if you've got a 16" folder and your curiosity is piqued by these weird things, we can both try it out!

According to Sutherland's (if I can read the chart correctly), the largest 4 sprockets of a 5s Shimano MF-012 can be used on a 6s Shimano MF-6208. I'm trying to create a 6s 13-32, so...

ISO two Shimano freewheels (ISO):

1. MF-Z012 5 speed 14-32 (must be 14-17-21-26-32) Purchased
2. 600 MF-6208 6 speed 13-18 corncob (or some combo that starts out 13-14) Found - thanks, Skip!

I have an MF-6208 which came on a recent wheelset, 13-14-15-17-19-21. The smaller five cogs have a Uniglide twist. The 21T has straight teeth. It is completely surplus to my needs. I'm happy to swap something for it, though we should figure out how to each cram two USPS Priority Mail flat rate boxes full...

I am trying to replace the RD below. Before I go to ebay or elsewhere I thought I'd ask if anyone here has something laying around. Although it is going on a late 70's Raleigh (5-speed, friction shift) I'm not too concerned about it being Raleigh branded or even the same type - however if possible I'd like to replace it with another Suntour that is at least somewhat period correct looking. It does need to have a longer cage though (large cog = 34T, total capacity = 30T).

You've got yourself a Raleigh-branded SunTour Seven RD. See Disraeli Gears for some good info. You could go for just a plain Seven, but I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade to a V GT or even a V GT Luxe. They are ridiculously reliable and as such still exist in good numbers. The only "reason" someone would get rid of one is because they might find indexing to be a thing.

I personally put a V GT Luxe on my "gas pipe" 5s Ross Eurotour with a Shimano FFS (it's cool to shift while coasting!). It replaced a Shimano Eagle POS that came in at about two times the weight. The Bob Ross has never shifted so well and makes happy little sounds when I ride.

You owe it to yourself to put a fine SunTour on your Raleigh. If you find one, be sure that it has a claw (if that is what your frame requires) - the mounting bolts are different for a claw and an integrated derailleur hanger: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-v...gt-luxe-2.html

Have a pair of Shimano Exage Motion BR-8250 single pivot sidepulls - recessed mount - that @unworthy1 gave to me for the Velo Yellow project. In the meantime, I did find dual pivots for all three bikes, so went that route - leaving me with these calipers.

In the spirit they were given, yours for cost of shipping. Recessed mount, 39-49mm reach. Can ship with the arms off the posts to keep the cost down.

Yeah, I was able to identify the model from the disraeligears site. A very good resource for sure!

Not that I am even close to being a chef but I am kind of treating this like I would missing an ingredient for a recipe: do I really want to run out to a gourmet food store and spend a few bucks on some high end spice to make the dish "right"? Or would I be OK with just making do with other more standard off the shelf stuff? I already dug through my pantry to find something close that might work well enough but sadly all I found were short cages...which looked "expired" anyhow

Thanks for the positive comments about the V-GT/ V-GT Luxe. I was looking at those as an option also.

I think I have a Suntour Seven, I will check that it has the "claw" and get back to this post, If it's good to go you can have it for cost of postage.

HMJ: good news/bad news (and sharing the news so others may benefit):
Bad news: I do have a SunTour Seven BUT it won't be good for your needs because it's not a long-cage. However if somebody ELSE wants one. standard cage, I will make the same offer (free but you cover shipping) but NOTE this one needs a hanger claw and that claw is missing (it DOES have the "jam-nut" that locks the claw in place), everything else is there including a little rust (no charge for rust!).

Now for the consolation prize: I also have a V-GT in Okay condition, a better RD than the Seven, it's a long cage but also missing the hanger claw (and HAS the jam-nut). Since this is worth more to both me and the public (even in the not-pristine condition)I would like to trade something for it. I believe I have a pic from a previous post, LMK if you are interested, if not then it's (still) up for grabs and so is the Mountech FD:
EDIT: I have cleaned up and lubed the VGT RD and it looks better now, plus did the same to the Seven and it's practically rust-free and gleaming like a chrome-plated steel RD, just as you'd think. Now I'm not so sure about letting this Seven go for free, but willing to trade for something modest: I need some black grips to fit Mtn Bike bars, a female-spec black saddle, mounting strip and nuts/bolts for a Blackburn style rear rack. Might be cleaning up that FD next and will include it in the deal if/as desired.

You are right. Although the tires' sizes (being radials) are designated 16" like car tires (R16), they are mounted on 20" bike wheels (ETRTO 406). So I guess I actually need a Raleigh twenty or similar. Heck I'd make a trade deal for some bike stuff if someone has one they want to get rid of. I will also check how easy it is to mount and dismount these tires. The sidewalls feel super lightweight and flexible like Compass/René Herse, and they have really flat tread like a car radial. Should be an interesting ride if I can find a folder to slap them on.

Hi, guys;

I'm looking for a mid-60's Schwinn Super Sport (or Superior) frameset. Easy to spot with the chrome fork, downtube shifter braze-ons and integral RD hanger.
Need 24" as measured from center of BB shell to center of top tube. Would prefer rough paint so I don't feel guilty refinishing, but no dents/bends/cracks please.
