26" Rim Brake Wheelset?

Any recommendations for a 26 rim brake bike? Just picked up a sweet old school ride that needs new wheels.

Most 26” wheels I’m finding lately are disc or rim, with asymmetric hubs, which I don’t want for my ‘96 Killer V rebuild. I want 100% rim brake only. It’s getting harder without having to resort to custom built...

Plenty of suggestions the best one being White Industries hubs and Velocity Dyad Rims with your choice of spokes me personally I would go Sapim but DT Swiss, Phil Wood and Wheelsmith are all fine options. If you are looking just for cheap the Velocity mountain standard rim brake wheel set is a good choice as it is at least still handbuilt.

Hey I've got several sets available from bikes I've parted out. What speed freehub do you need? Mine are all 7. -kj-

It depends - I am now looking at upgrading to a 1x12 so not sure how wide the hub body needs to be or does it matter....

From what I've read the easiest way to do this is to get an 8 or 9 speed wheel, the 1x cassettes drop right on. It's one reason I've not gone 1x on my bikes.

Supposedly you CAN make a 7 speed freehub work but I'd rather avoid the hassle.

If you want I can connect you with some folks I follow on Instagram that have done a ton of these conversions. LMK!
