Addiction 2021.2

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That sounds about right.

The only system I have experience with was on a 1980s Hinckley Southwest 42, inside a stubby telephone pole of a mast, which probably helped. It was 100% reliable on four Gulf Stream crossings, a couple of which were pret-ty sporty. All you had to do was keep some outhaul tension when you rolled it up. Like everything else on the boat, it was powered, which was nice.

All done. Sign is supposed to go up today. I spent the weekend cleaning carpet. I can't wait for this to be over. I'm tired.
I will never again use cheap paint. I spent $ on the paint for the Great room and foyer. Trying to save time over money. One coat, done. The Great room didn't even use a gallon. I was shocked by the ease of use and coverage. Completely different experience. I would normally use the cheaper paint and do multiple coats. And that usually costs more in paint and time.
Anyway, I'm happy with how it came out and how it presents. Wish I could have done more but I'm outa time.

Have had two in the past for a short time. One is more funner. And, cheaper.

Our friends with a Bene 37 (like ours but bigger) have a furling mast. No roach on the main, and the clew cannot really be secured to the boom. As you reef it, the clew gets higher. Don't like that. But, the mast is not a tree trunk. We enjoy sailing with them on a social level, and don't really "ramp it up." It's more about the drinks.

When the main gets baggy, the furling becomes more difficult, and the tendency to get stuck increases. I much prefer to simply open the clutch and watch it fall.

It's not the boat and fees and parts, permits, licensing etc.ad nauseum. It's all the beer and liquor that actually keep a boat afloat. I can't afford that or the new liver I would need to start that again.

I'm not much of a player even though I grew up with a table right outside my bedroom door. My dad has an old 8' A.E. Schmidt table that is solid oak, inch thick slate, and leather nets. Thing weighs a friggin ton.

I thought you had still had a sport boat.

The main on the Hinckley was total crap, but it didn't have much flab.

No, I had the Rocket for about 5 years, sold it, and bought the Beneteau in 2010.

I am, vertically challenged and don’t have much of seat post showing, but the Varia mounted below Lezyne micro caddy works quite well (bottom of radar does not clear the top of tire. Probably 1/2” overlap)

Thanks, Guys, for all of the info and suggestions on the Varia. A trip to the shop is planned this week. I’ve been averaging at least one close call per ride because my left eye is worthless so unless I move to Britain, I need to do something.

Yup, he moved pretty close to my mother in law within the last year and this was our first visit out here since the pandemic.

Sometimes, doing nothing is great.

The Color of Money, of course.

Yep I loved 8 ball, and did lots of APA stuff, where the handicap was mostly fair, plus, bar league. Tournaments were awesome, simply because you had to not only be able to play, but you needed some stamina. Luck never hurt either.

There are 2 models. One has a light, and one doesn't. The one without is cheaper, by a good $80. But then you need a light.
