I'm the kind of person that, usually, let things take its own course but this has become ludicrous; 5 pages of people being honest and judicious, thinking of the well being of a fellow person, and that same person being childish, irresponsible and, definetly inmature. His intention on trying to hide the truth by irresponsibly trying to repair an expendable bike (as has been noted, it is a dept. store youth's bike, still available and cheaper than fixing his father's) is by no means a good one. To the OP; man it up, tell the truth, wash cars/do some lawnmowing and get your money's worth. Now go and buy a replacement bike. If indeed you care for your father (and your relationship with hi.), you might as well sprint for something better, like a used Schwinn, Fuji, Panasonic, Bridgestone, Giant, Trek, et. Al.

Careful Juan...the mods don't like when we point out the obvious truth.

Sorry if I've been out of line here or anywhere else, but it is uncomfortable to see people trying to help and an OP insisting on an answer that is both irresposible and dangerous; if he wants to experiment with HIS bike, fine, but to do it with his father's, and without telling... that is outright nefarious. Again, if I did something wrong, my apologies and if it conveys some responsability, guess I'll "man it up", but this time could not helped being quiet.

It seems the OP has struck a nerve w/ someone so the thread lives on. You can't post anything 'bad' about him or you get in trouble.

I love all the pearl clutching in here.
Bend the fork back like I said; prang it again with the bars spun around. Totally NBD.
Remember folks, this is a BSO made out of cheese. It's not gonna snap.
And to that one guy who said the frame is aluminium, it's not. You get this on some BSOs; they use stupidly oversized steel to make you think it's aluminium, even though this results in a 20kg bike... And yeah, I know ally frames are so cheap now that some BSOs have one, but this ain't one of those.
If you look at how much of the headset cup you can see, that's a much thinner wall than any aluminium head tube.

My error Kimmo - you're right of course: it's a steel frame according to three separate listings. I should have checked that before concluding just on appearances. But you and I agree at least on he expedience of simply bending it back, though I'd far prefer to see him try it by the tournequet/windlass method for a more controllable outcome.
