Built for the mountains. Built for the sprints. Built for the hard man stages. Whatever.

It turns out I'm now built for the rest day.

The only reasonable goal in sight for me is going to be awfully hard to wrestle from GrainBrain 's cold, dead hands. Nothing is idiot proof to a sufficiently talented idiot, so I shall endeavor to persevere. Here's hoping that some of his cast of misfits come alive in the second and third weeks for the race of their lives.

^ulissi, visconti, oomen and ganna should show well if they make it to the finish. campanaerts and zakarin...could go either way...likely the way we both know all too well.

in other news...the vuelta starts on october 20th...it'll be here before you know it and it'll be a separate thread.

is it just me or does the giro seem like it should be on stage 16 by now?

and again...if the flobikes vehicle that we (also) used for the tdf isn't available...will use the procyclingstats.com vuelta stage by stage game as a supplement, along with the usual easy velogames vehicle, to mock,
celebrate and chastise our fellow participants. somehow, slcbob and myself ended up going mano y mano for the giro but i know there are many that long to participate and actively watch/inflict the suffering over
23 (those darned rest daze) wild and crazy daze. it can be a daily affair but if you wanna make all your picks in a tony montana styled binge and forget about it, wipe your nose and be my guest.

Zakarin is going to come to a fork in the road and he'll take it. We shall see.

I fear Top Ganna and an intermittent flash of brilliance from one of my punchy Italians is going to keep me from catching down to GrainBrain .

----
On PCS, It's super easy to make your picks over there. Even easier to pick poorly.

I hope that if we have three participants there then then we really count as a league and actually get to see each other's results and maybe picks. It's often worth a gasp or chuckle or both.

At this point, with only two teams in the league (and I did see something that said "showing leagues of three or more" so it's not completely fabricated optimism), I have to hunt pretty hard to find out how I'm doing against my worthy opponent. Which sort of just adds insult to injury because he's in 300-somthingth position and I'm in 800+th. It's OK, I'm pacing myself, and it's a long way to Milano.

The Giro GC ship has sailed (with me in steerage) but there are races all over the place. Hop on in.

okay...now that the first rest day nonsense is over, who ya got for stage ten? weird profile. not quite sprinter. not quite classics. a little of both
with tt ability for a bit over 11 kms to the finish from the top of the last summit. i'll pick démare to latch back on before the end and take the stage but i don't feel good about it.
split the winning share equally with he, ganna and matthews sagan in the procyclingstats league because i've got less of a clue than usual.

Demare wins tomorrow.

Last time I said the stage was too lumpy for him, Demare stuck on like a limpet and turned in a convincing win. This time, I'm right.

Maybe a little GC fireworks if one of the contenders is a little stale coming out of the rest day? Eh, I dunno.

I would like to say Vendrame but since I'm hoping to race to the bottom, it might be Ulissi, Though wouldn't it be a nice lemon slushie if Matthews and Sagan made the break?

Darn you, Covid, ruining my prescient tangential musings with a Bling-free race.

USAZorro , surely Ineos must be to blame for all of this. Am I right? How can we connect the dots for the sheeple?

This is crazy season is taking a turn toward fugly. Best wishes for the whole cast and crew as the pandemic continues its tempo ride. The elastic hasn't snapped yet.

Geraint was quick to post a gif, so perhaps there's some spite at work. Making the whole peloton think, "who's next"?
