Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

First day in about 2 months it hasn't rained here. Overcast, but dry at least. Managed to get a few shots before the sun went down. Not pedal room material. It will have to do until Spring/Summer comes around.

Is that the original crankset on the Bianchi? The arms are sooooo slender. Pretty.

Yeah its the Nevar Sport cottered crank that came with the bike back in 1970s. Popped the cotters, completely stripped it down/regreased/rebuilt the BB. The original geared chainrings were 52/42. I sourced an NOS 46T chain ring for the conversion. Had to find NOS because Nevar used some crazy 128 BCD that is impossible to replace.

Woah is that blue/ orange? [the white balance is very off in that photo prolly because your camera adjusting to the low light]
That's a rare color right there & could probably make your money back and then some just selling that frameset on ebay.

I've got the same crankset and am pretty pleased. Chunky and super stiff. Great price, too, considering it comes with BB.

I finally got my silver bars last night so I could finish it then I finally got to ride it today. Bam, just like that a flat. The tires it came with were pure saran wrap. Put a new tire on it. Fortunately I had two Rubinos lying around.

Ouch.
Well I have seven other geared bikes including CAAD10 Rival .
The frame pictured has a tiny dent so I got a replacement below cost from C'dale.
I had the parts on another frame but I couldn't resist trying them on the CAAD.
It rides wonderfully.
