Cleaning Gumwalls?

Recent build with black H+Son Archetype rims and Vittoria Coras G+ gumwall tires.

The black coating on the brake track is wearing through and turning the tan sidewalls black.

Elbow grease and a wet rag doesn't work. We used to use Brillo on my uncles Caddy.

Suggestions?

I would try whitewall cleaner that is used for car/truck tires, especially if you already have some.

The first step is to accept that the sidewalls will never look like they did when new, no matter what you do.

Since there is always detritus of some sort on my paint after 2 or more rides, I clean the grit off with Sonus Paintwork Cleansing Lotion, (frankly anything to get gunk off your paint). A microfiber cloth and a dab will clean your paint. This is also the only thing that I have found that works well on the gumwalls. I assure you, I have tried dozen and dozens and dozens of products on the gumwalls, and this product works well without too much scrubbing, and without discoloring the gumwall. I have found that many of the products mentioned on this forum turn my gumwalls an "off" color. The Sonus Paintwork Cleansing Lotion does NOT. I used to have my own car detailing business so I have tried literally over a hundred products throughout my lifetime. Simply sharing what works for me.

Yes, that is what I use, and it works really well for me. Your mileage may vary.
