Is this Miele a good buy?
Looking at a miele gara triathlon road bike. Seems to be from the mid 90's, light red color. Seller wants 300 and says it's a 57-58cm. Not sure how older geometry compares to new but I normally ride a 56cm. I'm 6' tall with a 32 inch inseam. Bike is in good shape with full shimano 105 and clipless pedals. Looking for any info on value and experience with these since I need to go out of the way to look at it.
thanks

This subject bicycle uses a 1987 frame but has been rebuilt. 1987 was the only year the Gara Triathlon. The following year it became the Gara 88, then simply the Gara. The 1987 version used Shimano New 600EX while the subsequent variants were Shimano 600 Ultegra. The colour sounds like the Glazed Watermelon that was so popular. The value will be highly dependent on the market and condition.

Real nice frame set that should be the OP's size. As for value it's a bit high but reasonable if the paint and 105 components are in real nice shape. If the paint isn't great at this price I'd pass these had great original great looking finish which is about half the value on one in good shape

The subject frame is definitely the 1987 model, which was Columbus Matrix. It is the Glazed Watermelon finish. It appears to have been entirely rebuilt, right down to the headset. The derailleurs and brakeset are period correct Shimano New 105. The crankset appears to be 1990s Shimano 105SC. I can't identify the wheelset but the rims definitely aren't the OEM Ambrosio. Cosmetic condition of the paint appears to be slightly below average but the chrome looks good in the picture. Typically, these are well built, good handling, mid-range frames. I'd value this at about $200-225 in an average USA market. If the OP is Canadian, then $300 CDN in high priced markets like Toronto, Vancouver or Montreal would be considered a good deal.
The frame looks like it may be a 56cm (ctc). Normally, my starting point for someone 6' tall would be 58cm in traditional geometry (i.e. horizontal top tube). However, that is a short inseam for someone of that height, in which case I might even go to 60cm to compensate for the longer torso. Modern, compact frame designs are a good solution with with a long torso and short legs.
.
