brifter compatibility
Can I use shimano rsx brifters (3X7) to convert from my 105 downtube shifters? Right now I have a 7 speed rear and a double up front--all shimano 105 components. thanks

Do you already own the parts or are you just thinking about buying them?
The back, for sure, will work fine.
Shimano specs different shifters for 7-speed double and triple front derailleurs but specs the same shifter if you have 9-speed. That tells me there's a good chance of success, but it's not 100%. If I already owned the shifters I'd slap those puppies on and see if I could make it work. If I had to buy the shifters, I think that I'd take a pass - unless they were REAL cheap.

I converted a Trek 3x7 with indexing downtube shifters to RSX triple brifters and they worked very well. There were an RSX 2x7 double STI brifters too.
