I love going downhill with a tail wind

Hi,

I have been road riding for about two months now and really enjoy it. I am riding a Giant OCR3 and a Schwinn Mesa. I also do some mountain biking and plan to ride in the ICEMAN Cometh race in November.

The Iceman is a race from Kalkaska Michigan to Traverse City, Michigan on fire roads and two track. 27 miles in what ever November weather northern Michigan has to offer.

I am trying to get miles in by commuting to work which is exactly 9 miles from my house on a well paved country road. Besides the stench of rotting road kill it is good.

I am very lucky because my brother-in-law is also a cyclist and he keeps me going, whether he is adjusting or repairing my equipment, dragging me along at 7am or kicking by butt around Michigan trails - he is a great motivator and mentor.

I look forward to learning from the folks involved with this forum and hope I can make a worthy contribution.

Many welcomes, SpeedyGuy032. That's a good looking bike! Downhill is awesome - with a tailwind, it's bliss.

You don't know what northern Michigan weather is until you have been to the keeweenaw peninsula.

You forgot to mention how HilLy the ride is, of course now you can speak from experience. Mother Nature dealt us some real Iceman conditions with the snow, ice and cold didn't she. Glad you rode it with me, can't wait til next year.

Have you sent in your sign up sheet for the '04 ride yet ?

I think I was either in denial about the Hilly nature of Northern Michigan or just plain didn't know.

I haven't signed up yet, I think I will wait until the soreness goes away.

Hopefully next year I will have a few less inches on my waste and a few more inches on my legs. I will need it.

Great Job threadend!! Thanks for bringing me along.
