Early RAGBRAI Info

The overnight cities have been announced:
https://www.desmoinesregister.com/app.../NEWS/80123031

It looks like they're rolling through central Iowa, which is my stomping grounds. I grew up in Ames, currently live about 30 minutes from Tama/Toleda, and my wife is from the Corallville/Iowa City/North Liberty area.

FYI, Ames is a college town (lots of beer and good food).
Between Tama/Toledo and the Amana Colonies (old German/Amish community) is one of Iowa's scenic byways which you will hopefully get to ride. old German/Amish community means more good wine, beer and food. North Liberty is now basically a northern suburb of Iowa City, another larger college town. And the Coralville Reservoir, just north of town, has some great mtn biking trails called "Sugarbottom" if anyone is interested.

Anyway, if you have questions about this area, don't be shy.

There are some really good restaurants in Ames. If you are into different beer, Olde Main Brewery and restaurant is a great place that is going to start selling their beer and root beer nationwide soon.

I doubt I will have the free time to make this work, but I would love to do it just once.

I was just thinking it was time for a RAGBRAI thread. Even though I won't be a Clyde then, I still want to get ride going.

I am very excited that RAGBRAI is coming through Ames. Chances are good, the route will pass less than mile from my house!

A buddy from Work (also a Clyde) and I are planning to ride it. He has a _Lot_ of training to do as he has never done any longer rides. I have plenty of work to do as well.
Even better, my 9 year old daughter is excited that she will get to ride one day this year.

Anybody still talking about getting a group together?
