In the context of fixed-gear, what is a reasonable GI for a reasonably in-shape person (but one who has been riding with gears and has never ridden FG.)?

Yea, I was going to say anything from 60-80 depending on elevation changes.

If you have access to a geared bike, try it out there. 42x16/17 is pretty common.
