LesterOfPuppets, jdgesus,
Thanks. I have the mid for mounts, on a ft disc fork. I would've tried this first, but I ordered low rider front rack. I will probably still try to do this also on another bike.

A project bike I picked up for dirt cheap a while back. Been meaning to break it down and give it a proper cleaning but for now it rolls fine. My main intentions for it is light touring/grocery bike.

i'm really, really stoked on this bike...i've been on the lookout for a decent vintage mountain bike for sometime. the bridgestone i had this summer came close, but it was a touch too small. i came across this bike earlier this year, and offered to buy it from the gentleman on the spot....told me he'd think about it. he bought it brand new in california in 1992, when he was in his 50's. well, saw him again last week and said he was ready to sell it....he named a price and now it's mine.
the bike is as close to pristine as you could ever want. has a full shimano xt groupset (right down to the brakepads), and all other original components (except for the ti flite, i believe). the only thing i plan on doing is getting a wider bar- this thing is NARROW! the color is billed as raspeberry and it's amazing in person. since this is my "sunday driver" i opted for the 1.95 kwests, instead of knobbies, since i'll probably spend 90% of the time on pavement.
more here.

Pic of my 1980 Le Champion from when I first picked it up... I think she will be my next project. Replace those heavy arayas with some 700c wheels, a VO crankset and possibly some bar end shifters? Will snap a better pic at some point, currently she's at a friends house though and I've been meaning to pick her up.
Yes, I am tall... (6'3") and the saddle and stem/handlebar position has been adjusted since then.

Damn I am jealous of that stumpjumper... I constantly watch craigslist for similar stuff.
This is probably the most awesome Cypress I've ever seen. It's one of the top selling models at the LBS I work at, but it's billed as a comfort bike and bought mostly by old people. Glad to see it has the potential to be a badass flat bar road bike.
