SoCal road racing?

I might spend the majority of my time on my roadie, but I'm a mountain biker in real life. But I occasionally like to dabble in racing this skinny tire bike. But I've found that crit racing is not for me, I like road racing. I've done two now (Sea Otter and Dunnigan Hills) and liked them both. But...I'm in the wrong Cat. I need to move up so that my rare road race is fair, but want to avoid crits. Can you see the problem?

Are there any more local racing in the SoCal area that offers upgrade points, that isn't crit racing?

Nothing against crit, I just don't find it to be fun. Looks like NorCal has a lot (where I did Dunnigan Hills), but that's a lot of gas, and time I could be riding dirt.

See if the Redlands Bicycle Classic has any road races for non-pros (its in March each year). They used to have a road race/fun ride during the week for non-pros, but may have switched it to criteriums.Other than that the L.A. area is pretty 'dry' for road races.

Not sure if there are any in the San Diego area, maybe if someone sees this thread they can chime in.

You should have been here in 2014.

But seriously, for road racing (i.e. not crits) there isn't much. You have the Santa Barbara RR, UCLA RR, Victorville RR, a new race on Cajon Pass. Unfortunately for guys like us (the only thing I can will are road races with elevation) we have to take a lot of trips to NorCal.

Thanks for the input.

I'll see what I can get local. But, good news is, I can just take a long weekend up in NorCal and bring my roadie and big bike and have a lot of fun 😁

Unfortunately, this weekend is booked. I'll keep an eye on the calendar though.
