Every time I see one of these, it makes me badly want an old mixte as a commuter/errand bike. Gorgeous, turkey legs/stem shifters and all.

Ok not exactly in the wild I was in my LBS in the back while they replaced a spoke for me and noticed this in the repair queue area an early 70s version of the Moto_GT with the 1020 tubing, I have a later 70s version with the Vitus main tubes.

Seen all of these recently on campus. Never talked to their owners, never seem to meet them at the bike rack. The first pic isnt C&V but it's my buddy's new bike I like a lot. With mine in the background.

Pretty cool campus, but between the pug and your buddy's bike, those could be freebies in a flash. Their were some thieves in PDX awhile back with some wide jaw bolt cutters and some that were like heavy duty loppers that would clip right through that back wheel, never mind just removing the through axle or a portable angle grinder or......

I realize your campus may be safer than some/many but why temp fate?

Just sayin.

Oh, and where's the Fatty update?

Sorry man - that's what I got

I couldn't get a whole side shot because it was up against a busy street, and blocked by what it was parked to on the other side. If I see it again, I'll try to do better.

@merziac update on the fat coming tonight! Need to gather pics. We have a very low rate of bike theft, and about the the people do not even lock up their bikes, I have even seen some nicer specialized bikes unlocked. Even still, it makes me nervous for others at times. You can see my bike locked up reasonably well in a couple pics.

No worries. It already gave me tons of ideas for Leo (the Bottecchia).

Spotted this old Redline on my way to the Post office, incidentally to mail a Suntour Perfect FW in need of some love and a new home to a BF member, appears rusty but functional.

Local park hires a goat group to clear the brush. The company's trailer is parked near the fenced-off work area and this 24" wheel Specialized Rock Hopper has been parked unlocked next to it for the last couple of weeks. Incredible. Flat tires, rusty chain, but complete; I might have to rescue the bike, even though I don't know anyone who needs it. Donate time, I guess.

Actually in a shop, the old Bull City Bicycles in Durham NC many years ago. It's French, it's wearing Wald bars and it's art; completely wrapped in strips torn from a bed sheet.
