One of ours crossed Rainbow Bridge today. Mia, or as we more often called her "Mama", she lived a long and happy life but she finally just wore out.

My daughter brought this one home, of course she left for college two months later. The cat loves to be held especially when I am using the computer.

I picked up these little freeloaders yesterday. I'll have them for 2-3 weeks. Named Red, Russet, and Yukon. I'm just referring to them as "the potatoes".

It would be if any of them were staying! I've already done the crazy calico thing, so I don't need more, even if the little mustache girl is really sweet.

Latte again.

If you look closely, there is a nose peaking out the side window.

Trailer is a vintage Bike Friday Cargo Trailer, plus, probably a vintage cat carrier. I'm not sure if Bike Friday still makes them, but the could probably whip up a frame if needed. It is similar to their travel trailer, except slightly narrower, and with the wheels held on by pinned bolts.

The blanket is a previously worn fleece shirt (I thought it was best with a little BO )

I've been working towards this day. As far as I can tell, she seemed very relaxed. Less talkative than usual when driving (which probably means more relaxed). And, seemingly more relaxed going by bike than going in the pickup. She did figure out how to snuggle down inside the fleece for a bit.

The other method I've figured out to judge state of mind is that she rarely plays with her toy mouse while driving, but attacks it at home. But, it was in the other cat carrier.

Nonetheless, much of the quite short ride, she seemed to be sitting up and looking out.

No idea when I lost a corner of the crate. I only noticed it as I was bolting it down.

My two outdoor cats, Patches (white) and Charlie (orange) have been inseparable for going on 5 years. Patches showed up pregnant and had 5 kittens shortly afterwards.
I live on a farm in the country, and I've been lucky to not have had a problem with coyotes, until 9 days ago. That's the last time I saw Patches so I have to assume one got her. They never leave my property, and would never have just wandered off. I've since brought Charlie in the house to join the other 3 indoor cats. He'll not be going outside anymore, and he seems ok with it. She'll be missed.

This was our son's cat, Callie, she came with the house he bought. He got a new job that required him to be gone for long periods so we agreed to keep the cat for "awhile". It's now 3 years later and she's pretty much our cat but we're quite concerned that she hasn't settled in yet.......... She's always stressed like this.

My kitten, Latte, that adopted me has been going in and out to the back porch.

A couple of days ago I took her out front, set her down, let her loose, then I got distracted. When I went back to look for her... she was nowhere to be found. I called and called... nothing. Then I happened to find her curled up in a ball on my chair. Most comfy spot in the house.

So, how long will the "temporary abode" last?

I'm trying to figure out if there is any truth to the Calico/Tortie thing.

For a "feral"cat, my little kitten is the most bonded kitten I've ever seen.

She does periodically attack the fingers, but more of little nips, never intent on drawing blood.

I'll tell her "That's my finger"... she looks up at me, then bites the thumb for good measure.

But, mostly a cuddly fluffball. But, we'll see how that progresses into adulthood.

She is getting a free pass at the moment, but her job is to rid the house of mice.

She's still missing. I'm keeping her bed out there for her in case, but I don't think she's coming back. Shortly after her kittens were born, I gathered them up and brought them with her to a local no kill shelter with the agreement that if they were not able to find her a home, I would take her back to live on my property since she was familiar with it already, and her buddy Charlie was here for her too. Charlie's not the father btw, he's fixed. Well they weren't able to home her since she was technically feral and could not be handled. They spayed her, found homes for the kittens and I brought her back home to live with Charlie where they have been inseparable for the past almost 5 years. After all that time, she just recently started allowing me to touch her.

She had a good life considering where she started out. All 5 of my cats were strays that people just tossed out of their cars so they could live in the country. It's not a good way for them to live and people should stop doing that. Most of them don't get the care I gave mine allowing them to live for so long. Most just become coyote food. A farmer friend of mine told me he had 28 cats at the beginning of the spring, and he has none at all now due to the coyotes.

We've had a lot of city folk moving to our small town and leaving their small dogs out unattended in their fenced in yards and a lot of those small dogs are disappearing. They haven't figured out that those fancy privacy fences just slow coyotes down, they don't stop them. There was a picture posted on one of the local news channels of a coyote standing on top of the corner post of one of those fancy privacy fences eyeing their Yorkie on the other side of the patio door. They also don't understand that a large hawk or owl can carry a small dog or cat off and now that the bald eagles have started to stay year round you have to worry about them if your pets are outside.
