1992 rb-2

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...6901746447981/

I know it's not an RB1 but....

Fellow in Buffalo has an RB-2 that he has tried to sell for a long long time. I first saw it at $800 OBO, then I think $600, then $550 and now he has dropped to a more believable $200 but he called me and asked if I could do $100 "just to get rid of it".

I can see it has 400 Exage Derailleurs, Sugino cranks Exage Motion brakes and an Avocet seat. He doesn't seem to know the size (I'm guessing 59cm frame). He even sent me two videos but can't seem to load them on here.

It doesn't fit me and it's 400 Exage group which I always thought of as low end but apart from being dirty and needing bar tape it's a very nice looking bike.

Any thoughts on value???

I can't! I am "working" and then have to go to visit my parents 4 hours away and drive through Friday Toronto traffic to boot! @*~E%~!!.

I notified a Buffalo area member who is looking for that size and said to drop my name because I had the offer. If the bike is still there Sunday I am in. Just wondered what a fair value was......

That is a deal. If I remember right, the frame is the same as the RB-1, the components are the only difference. So the frame is solid.

The frame is not the same; the RB 1 has a better frame.

I have found that Bridgestone usually under-equipped their models. Based on its spot in the product line, you would think a RB-2 would be Shimano 600. But it's not. I guess they were trying to hit a price point, but it never really made sense to me.

At $100, yes its a deal. I don't see it lasting until Sunday. But because of his odd ad, "make me an offer, its worth $800", this one might actually last!

Under equipping bikes seemed to be pretty common on 80's Japanese bikes. There was a lot of stuff sold with really nice mid level frames and base level components.

I passed the sellers contact info on to RollingBuffalo who clearly needed a new ride (more than me). Seller then told RollingBuffalo that he wanted $200 "because he had researched it more so RollingBuffalo backed out. I was only looking for a flip anyway so I am out on this too.

One reason it benefits buyers to move fast. I have had sellers change their mind. Only by moving fast can you ensure this does not happen.

Please don't confuse ebay "asking" prices with "selling" prices. Many sellers never get their ask price. some are far from it. Value is determined once an item actually SELLS. Its easy enough to check SOLD prices.

They could definitely get $200 for an RB-2 with great paint and decals in the Twin Cities market. Even though it's under-equipped, the Bridgestone name bumps up the price.

In my defence, my mother wasn't doing well and I had to go and it was a 4 hour drive each way. I saw the post by RollingBuffalo who needs a good bike and thought I'd share the wealth. Upon my return I learned that he had been burned by the seller. I wouldn't buy it for $200 as it would have to be a flip as no where near my size and minimal profit at $150 let alone $200 so why drive to dicker with someone who wants to change the deal? At $100 yes. Once price doubles I am out.....

LOL, now this guy says it's selling for $800 "on the web" but he's willing to take offers.

He's probably reading this thread. Dude, if you are, get real. $200 is reasonable. You are not getting anything close to $800.
