Fourth Annual Chicagoland Classic and Vintage Ride
WHAT: Open invitation to a ride for anyone who reads this post, and their friends. Riding your vintage bike is highly encouraged but all bikes and riders are welcome. This is a no drop ride but there is no SAG support.
WHEN: Saturday April 20, 2013. Meet at 8:30, start ride at 9:00 am. Rain date is Sunday April 21, 2013.
WHERE: Crystal Lake Main Beach Parking Lot - here
FORMAT: A nice leisurely 30-mile ride, flat as a pancake, tacos at the end of the ride. This is the route. I will have a print out of the map and cue sheet at the start of the ride.
No-Drop rule, B-group speed.
Only moral support is provided. You must provide your own fluid/food for the ride. There is a stop at a quiky mart at the halfway point for food and drink.
WHY: This is meant as a social ride. It is an opportunity for Bike Forums members, friends and acquaintances to get together and meet, and ride together in a group. And eat some great tacos, or torta, or burrito or whatever floats your boat. Last year's ride - https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...spring+classic
Feel free to bring non-BF riders as well, but remember this is not an “organized event”. This is simply a large group ride.
Please spread the word to anyone else you think might be interested.

This is the first spring in 15 years I don't officially work on Saturdays so I would like to say yes, I'll be there.

Fuji Fan
Edit: Would a fat man on a fixed/SS have a hard time keeping up, or should I stick with a geared bike?

I suggest the geared bike as iab's pancakes do have a few lumps in them. Especially if the wind comes up.
Count me in.

Yay! Looking forward to it, and hoping not to crash the week before, this year.

Dairyland Roubaix for me as well or I would come down. If we get a ton of rain the days before the DR, I may bail on the mud and choose pancakes instead.

Never really got to like Chicago, In fact I dreaded every time I had to visit that big and mostly dark to me city......When I lived in Wisconsin for many years......Maybe that's kinda self explanatory in many ways...
