Thanks guys, that the general consensus even from non-riders. Even my family members admit it's a beauty.

I took it on its maiden voyage this morning. Almost went over the bars when the bullhorn suddenly dipped when hitting a small pothole.

It rides beautifully. More later.

Jur, you said you almost went over the bars. Is the stem to flexible?

The bullhorn wasn't tightened properly, so when I hit a lipin the road, they rotated downwards with the predictable result.

I haven't noted much flex yet.

Yeah Jur - it's a lovely machine - I think what really makes it is the lovely uncluttered swan-neck stem and integrated clamp - so much less visual noise than with a straight 'pipe' with your normal ahead bolted to it.

If you do get some studio shots taken you should get the pix sent to CycleEXIF - they'd lap up such a sweet build.

Oh - Have you made any mudguards yet?

Mudguards are under construction as we speak. I am looking at one other option for viability at the moment.

I wouldn't think they would be necessary. I can't imagine that mud or grit or spray would have the nerve to deface such a beauty.

I contacted Ali Baba who were advertising what appeared to be this frame. Here's is their quote for a price:

If 4 sets, the price is $1150 per set. The total shipping is $450.
I asked if they would go lower and asked for specs. They said to make an offer but gave no specs.
Perhaps it is a good deal but i have never dealt with them and do not know if they are reputable. seems they have out and out taken jur's frame with no regard for copyrights.

Yes I saw that too. I haven't mentioned it here out of respect for Reich, however I did warn him that I expected exactly this, that they would simply rip off the design. They also offered the Tyrell frame in Ti which was also probably an unlicensed copy. I don't see the Tyrell frame advertised any longer. I would expect they didn't sell that many. That is the co. who made the frame for me. They can be trusted regarding sales.

I would not recommend a buy at this stage of that frame. They messed up the hinge. I fixed it but average Joe probably could not. Also, I had in mind some improvements for a group buy, snake stays and disc brake fittings.

The pics in that series in their ad were taken of the bike even before they fixed some errors on it, so obviously it was all along their intention to offer it for sale.

That said, I didn't enter into any NDA with them.

Are you still pursuing a group buy? I, for one would be interested and I would love the option of fat tires so the stays issue wold be important. I get some snow and ice here in Wyoming and a studded tire option could get me a little closer to getting down to one bike instead of my little fleet. I would also love your seat post and stem. What would a package like this cost if you go forth with it?

IANAL,but I don't believe it's illegal for them to make a frame if it's intended as a 'replacement'. Harley has an army of lawyers(they even tried to patent their engine sound),and their frames(FXR,Dyna,Soft Tail) are trademarked. But there are plenty of aftermarket companies making replacement frames for them. In fact,you can build an entire 'Harley' without using a single stock part;there are even companies that make bikes like this.

Yes, agreed, to me the issue is one of deference to Peter Reich. As I said, I fully expected this result.

I am interested in pursuing this further, with the intended mods to the frame. Snow tyres would not fit though. I would have to check for Big Apples, but I think they would fit.

I am totally happy with the Ti frame performance. It is as great a pleasure to ride as the Aluminium one, but a fair bit lighter. As is the bike is now 8.5kg. This is the lightest bike I have had. I can totally recommend it, but again, only with the intended mods. The intended mods would shave off another 2-300g off the bare frame weight.

It should only be paired with the seatpost (which these guys don't realise), which is an integral part of the strength of the frame.

The curving stem riser is also a great success. So far only small tweaks in mind.

These are: Thinner walled top tubes (-350g)
Disc brake fittings
adjusted cable stop positions
snake chain stays & seat stays
single head tube gusset instead of dual

Interested parties could perhaps petition Peter Reich as he was not clear on how to proceed. Perhaps a royalty would be fair?
