My tastes are rather pedestrian. I'd like to find a 1989 Schwinn 974 in my size.

There's just something exotic and Orwellian & iron curtain-ish about this Russian XB3 headbadge. I'd love to have the lugs on the 1st photo from @meltron with the metallic green color of the 2nd photo from @Midnite

Since we are discussing things which are holy, someday I'm going to get a head badge made from a Miraculous Medal

Nice. Everyone had one of those in their cars when I grew up.

Have you heard of Madonna del Ghisallo, Patroness of cycling?

La Madonna del Ghisallo ? the Patron Saint of Cycling | Cyclingnews.com

Apparently many pro's have placed their winning jersey or bike at the shrine in thanksgiving. I used to have a MdG prayer card I carried when riding.

I used to have a home made Big Cat medallion snipped from a malt liquor can mounted on the headtube of an old Schwinn Springer fork balloon tired bike I used to ride around in Philadelphia in the 70's. I drank that weaselly brew because I liked the name and its logo. Still have a Big Cat sticker that has been mounted inside the lid of my toolbox since the early 70's.

Having his initials into ornate head tube lugs is effectively a badge. But if he rested well thinking he put his energy into the frame, then cool.

My two favorites are my Legnano and my Raleigh badges.

This is my 1961 Legnano Gran Premio - the bike's best feature.

My 1973 Raleigh Super Course.

Not sure if that quote was verbatim. It was provided to me by the late Bill Vetter of Washington DC and Greensboro Bend VT. He told me that was WBH's reply when asked "why don't you use a fancy head badge?"

Bill was a close friend of both me as a teenager and Mr Hurlow. He was Hurlow's informal "agent" in the US in the '60s. Bill also built touring frames during his retirement years in VT.

Agreed, Hurlow's statement was in his lugs. An intricate head badge would have been redundant and would have competed with the art work already there. Mine after a re-paint begging for its decal! ...
