Nishiki Touring bikes
I don't know much about this brand, but see several older models listed as touring bikes. Can anyone comment on how they stack up :

I don't have a clue whether these are bona fide touring bikes or fall into the sport touring classification.

I'm not familiar with any of those models, but my experience with Nishiki MTBs back in the 90s was good - at that time, at least, they made very solid steel frames - my Dad has a Nishiki Colorado (mid-to-high-end MTB) that he purchased in 1990 or so, and its still going strong as a commuter bike. Their MTBs from that era would make good off-road tourers - long wheelbases, lots of braze-on's for racks, decent 3x7 component groups.

The '80s Cresta definitely is but the others are more sportish by comparison. Every Cresta I've seen has been a long wheelbase road bike with cantilever brakes and numerous braze-ons. Riviera GT also seems to be a touring unit.
