Crazy Clyde Challenge

James Cracknell, the British olympic rower (6'4" & 100KG = CLYDE) is taking on a challenge to row, cycle and swim from England to Morocco.

A 22 mile row from England to France
A 1400 mile bike ride to Southern Spain
A 12 mile swim to Morocco

Did I mention he's hoping to do it in 7 days!!

So far:
Day 1 - 22 mile row, 60 mile bike ride
Day 2 - 300 mile bike ride
Day 3 - today ?? - my guess is 300 miles.

The guy is incredible and from the interviews I've seen of him over the years, he's a really nice bloke too.

You can see more about his challenge and progress here:

Wow. I'm amazed at 300 miles in one day, forget the rest of the story.

Assuming the row and the swim are one day events, this leaves 5 days for 1400 miles on the bike.

5 x 24 = 120 hours

That's 11.6 mph overall average for 5 straight days. Factor in 5 hours a day off the bike, and you're looking at 14.7mph rolling average for those 5 days.

Is it do-able? Yes. It's crazy insane, but do-able.
