What bars do you run and why?!

Are you a flat bar hipster!? Maybe a riser bar tarck-star! Maybe you like those "oh so gushy" drops. Throw out your bar preference and why you like it. Lets get some talk about pros and cons here. Also, What do you have in your cockpit? CPU? Light rig? Basket? Small 3rd world child you adopted to match your top tube protector?

Likes: size 44 bullhorns. I like the hand position at the ends for downhills/speed and the flats for climbing/accel. Also, I enjoy a set of 46 ergo road drops from time to time.

Dis-likes: Flat bars and track drops. They just arent comfortable to me, and flat bars have 1 hand position, which I call the "see-saw" because of the feeling when you try to pull on them at all.

Cockpit: Bars. Knog 5 LED front. TT brake lever. PBR 40 cap bar ends.

EDIT: added s**t

I like bullhorns or chopped and flopped ones, but unfortunately im running the flat bar and I see how ridiculous it is. Not a fan, but my bike came with them and im planning on pickingup a cheap pair of drops probably

I am thinking about Titec H-bar now. I should look like an ugly male deer.

Rode flat bar for a while, didn't like it at all for anything more than 10 miles for obvious reasons.

Currently really enjoy riding plain boring bullhorns with very little drop (would probably add more drop to them if I had a choice). I also rode road drops for a while, which I also liked a lot. I just find myself riding the bullhorn ends more than I rode the drops.

Exactly the same for me. I had ergo drops for about 1.5 years with no real variation, then I got some bullhorns a few days ago. I love them.

chopped risers with ourys and some crappy brake lever that I got at the co-op. How original.

I really like bullhorns, i like the reach and numerous hand positions they offer.

I have track drops now, and the drops are just too low for city riding, the tops bend downwards which puts my hands in a weird angle unless they are right in the center touching the stem.

I understand why people chop them like this now.

Because the drops never get touched anyway, and this looks bad ass.

I am thinking of getting some Nitto RB-021's next or some risers with sweep back like the Nitto B259's. i have had Nitto B201's and they have no sweep, which again feels a bit uncomfortable as they are too straight and angle your wrists out.

Sweep is good because it keeps your wrists in a solid strong position.

Maybe my ideal bar would be a bullhorn with a 7 degree sweep. So I can have a wide, strong comfortable grip position and still get a good forward position for climbing and sprinting.

Coda risers chopped to 38cm with ourys. Have tried both bullhorns and track drops. Both are not as comfortable for me in the city. A no, I don't have risers for tricks.

@the_don: Where are you supposed to grab on those bars for a dropped position? the vertical position, aka "the Cliffhanger"? Id be scared to even try those bars for anything but spinning around with my hands on the flats. Those are crazy scary!

I run Nitto RB-018s. Barring missing the drops for SOME riding (heavy sprints and wind escapism) I love them over any other bar I've ridden.

one of my favorite bars (if the bike can pull 'em off) is Salsa's Bell Lap CX Bar:

ergo drops, wide top, not too deep, and the 3cm of flare at the bottom gives some interesting/comfortable hand positions.

Currently: 40cm Origin8 bullhorns, 110mm 10degree stem (downward), cinelli gel tape

Love it all but on ride 15 miles plus or really bumpy rural roads I get some tingling in the wrists if I stay in one position for a majority of the time.

Dislikes: Track drops for traffic use, they look beautiful but keep em on the track.

+1 for the MotoAce Bell Lap.
My fg is one of my commuter/distance bikes, so I spec'd it with the same bars and saddle I have on my geared brevet bike. Only difference is that I used cloth bar tape on the fg, and cork-mix on the geared bike.

I admit that actual photo has a redundant brake lever. Maybe it was there because of the fuzz.

There is no way that guy or girl is using it.

That is just a photo I found on the net, I see quite a few bars chopped like that when walking about shibuya. And if you only ride on the tops, like I currently am, I can understand chopping them as they do look pretty sweet.

on my commuter/around-town track bike:
chopped profile design risers with oury grips, left-side tektro brake lever
(I've taken this setup on 40-mile rides, and it still feels fine to me).

on my longer-distance geared bike:
nitto b-115 with standard bar tape, shimano 105 hoods
(I rarely get in the drops, but the bike is so new to me that I haven't taken it on rides yet).

On the subject of bullhorns, I have a set of the RB-018s that I haven't yet tried out, but I definitely like the flop-and-chop/no-rise appeal. I tried Syntace Stratos for a while after everyone was raving about them, but I didn't like the drop.

Chopped risers with an inch or so rise/ourys. Cinelli LA84 pursuit bars, chopped down a bit, with tape. Soma track drops, tape, rarely used.

I have chopped and flopped bull horns. I love that they are tight enough and not too long. I have a ghetto rigged moutain bike break that looks rediculous, and a blackburn voyager. I use to have a CPU but, rain killed it.

On a side note i'm looking for a more respectable brake, one that will fit on larger sized drops, and isn't to big. PM me if you can help me out.
