Considering trading a '88 Miyata 1000 touring bike I recently obtained. The bike is in near new condition; however, the frame is slightly big for me as the picture shows. I believe it is a 60cm frame. All parts appear to be stock except for the seat. Would be willing to trade for a similar value bike in a smaller frame size (say 54-56cm).

Thought I would condense my post on my 54 cm miyata 1000 frame. I have been thinking about it, and still would like a 60 cm frame with a derailer hanger. Don't really care what make, or if the paint is bad. In some consideration of the fact that the 1000 is a pretty nice bike, despite the rust, I may draw the line at gaspipe, onepeice cranks, or nonstandard threading. I can ride a 58cm, but really looking for a bigger size.
If this frame is in to bad of condition and no one wants it, I will just strip it down, repaint, and make an aggresive fast tour bike.
It is a strait frame, and looks clean inside.
this is the front cable guide, the middle is in simular condition, the rear not this bad.
this is the worst single spot. it looks a lot worse with the camera closeup. But I would rather rep it as bad than try to candy coat it..

And I have short legs and a very long torso, but I can still ride a large frame with a short stem.

I wish I could help you. That bike looks awfully nice.
Before you do anything, try a stem with a shorter extension. It might make the bike viable for you. There's nothing like a too-long extension to make a bike feel much too big. I recently did some experiments with that, and the differences were dramatic.

Ha, will do! It was a good deal. Tange 900 frame is in good shape, with one dinged cable guide and one spot of bubbling on the TT. Seller was a nice guy. Wheels are 700c Arayas. It might fit me best with flat bars with that short top tube. I'd love to keep the drops on it and work on getting my wife over her aversion to road bikes.

Have: 51 CM Lemond Zurich Frame/fork/headset. Full Reynolds 853. Year 2000 I believe. Carbon Fork.
There are several things that I would consider a trade for -- first, a 53cm version of the same frame. That is what I really want.
Other needed options, ultegra 6700 STI shifters, 32h black mavic open pro rim, 32h black campy record front hub (or better yet, those two things put together in a nice front wheel). Would take and add cash as needed to make deal work

So after putting about 150 miles on this frame, I'm forced to concede that it's too big. It's a 90/91 Bottecchia team ADR LeMond tribute bike. It's 60-62 cm, I think--I'll measure it later this evening and update this post. Tubing is Columbus SL, no dents or dings, but the paint has some chips and is somewhat faded.
It's a really nice frame and always gets compliments, it's a shame it doesn't fit because I really love the way it rides.
I'm looking for something on this level (SL or equivalent, 80s-era road or track frame, doesn't have to be Italian, ) in the 53-58cm range as a trade.

I have a Bianchi Veloce from 1985 and I love this bike sooooo much but the frame is too large. I believe it's a 58cm and I'm probably closer to a 54cm since I'm 5'10". Best case scenario is I can swap out the frame with someone that has a 1985 Veloce frame celeste in a 54/55cm but I know that's prolly not happening. I'd be interested in a complete swap for something Italian and vintage but smaller. I love the complete camp parts on my bike but it's almost a shame to strip my frame and rob this bike of it's stock appeal. I'll do it though if that seems like the best option or if someone offers a frame that would work. My bike is completely stock besides tape, rides great, frame has few scratches and zero rust, original tires awesome condition all around. I'm on the east coast NYC

I'll give this a try. '88 59 CM Bridgestone T700. I tried to make it fit but it's just not happening. Should fit but just doesn't work,can't get comfortable. I'd like to stay with a Bridgestone in 61-63 CM. Love a Mile 112 but open to others. Just the frame components stay with me. No dents,some scratches and a bit of rust under the pinstriping. Done by me and looks better from 10 feet.

Decals are in great condition, One scratch from the cransket,
Two of the cable holders on the top tube snapped off. These can be replaced.

Have: 62ish x 54.5 (ctc) Tange 900 Shogun 600. Dinged and chipped front tt brake cable guide (TT is slightly dinged here) and a spot of bubbling on the TT. Otherwise very nice. I thought this was a 60cm, but I just went back in and measured, and it is indeed longer. Got long legs/short torso?
