October in Bend, OR
My wife and I are planning to vacation for two weeks with our bikes in and around Bend, OR. We'll rent a VRBO or similar. Looks like there's a distinct price drop in home rentals after September 30. What's the weather like for road biking there in October?

If you can make it down by the 27th, there's a car free day around Crater Lake:

October should still be pretty nice. Just looked at my riding from last Oct and I was still getting in quite a bit... even did Bachelor and McKenzie Pass towards the end of the month. Assuming you don't upset the weather gods you should have 60's and 70's... well... mostly 60's but definitely come prepared for cooler weather cause you just never know. The car free day at Crater Lake is pretty cool, I just did it yesterday and it was nice not having to deal with cars for half the loop... although in the theme of unpredictable fall weather the car free weekend last Sept was a total bust as Crater Lake was completely socked in with rain and clouds.

Thanks for weather answer. We've got reservations from 9/27-10/9 just west of downtown Bend. We'll just miss the car-free day around Crater Lake, since that's the day were driving south. I've ridden around it during Cycle Oregon 9 and it was beautiful! But it certainly looks like there's plenty of good road rides around Bend.
