- Start at the bottom, leaving 1/3-1/2 the width outside the end.
- Wrap from inside to outside, keeping a good bit of tension on the tape.
- Remember you can unwrap the last couple loops and re-do them if they're uneven.
- Do a figure of 8 around the levers so the top is wrapped back to front.
- Cut the ends tapering to a point.
- Wrap with electrical tape before putting on the trim tape that comes in the box.
- Throw out the extra bits of tape they put in for people who can't do Figure Of 8 properly.
- If there are logos on the end plugs, make sure to line them up carefully
- If you need to, use a rubber mallet to hammer in the end plugs.
- If you don't need the hammer, wrap the end plugs with electrical tape till you do.
Would add: If you notice a loose bar-end plug while riding, DO NOT bang it in while on bike. Trust me on this one.

After 10 years on the Ritchey's original Dura Ace headset, it was getting a little 'grainy' when it turned. Not quite indexed, but getting there. Well over 10,000 miles of neglect and being ridden by a big fella who's a magnet for rocks and potholes. I replaced it with a Chris King which is still smooth as glass.

Once I drop 20, I’ll move to that. My 2033 assumes a 300 deficit daily and any riding or lifting on top of that is gravy. I did go over a few days when the burn was high.
I did bonk this morning when doing some intervals, I’m guessing as a result of not eating before I rode.

What I found works well for me is the calorie tracker on MyFitnessPal, because it's also linked to Strava, so I don't have to do anything to have it input my calories burned. I'm on 2160 Cal/day, and that's how I dropped from 235 to 205 since May. It has the advantage of a large library of foods, and it remembers what I've eaten, so I can just find it in my own 'favorites'.

KMC 11 speed chains are $30, but you can go as high as $75 for the gold one. I believe they're not directional, they use a master link, and on my bikes KMC chains are silent.

I haven't seen any issues with KMC chains - they are on our three Specialized bikes (but those are all 10 speed). I actually like the look of them better than the Shimano chains.

The subject of headsets and headset bearings came up. I will honestly say that I have totally ignored mine for 12 years, I do check that the front wheel turns freely without binding and that there is no "play" in the headset, but I have not done anything more.
Some of the guys say that is crazy talk, and that I should be at a minimum re-greasing headset bearings annually.

Ended up with basic dark blue gel cork. LBS told me that the grippy tack is extremely hard to put on. Being my first time that didn’t sound good.

Yeeesh. I guess that I'll be sticking to the trainer for a little while - the roads and paths are naaaaasty. We had a decent amount of wet snow a handful of days ago, and a temp drop since, so everything is covered in ice. I was planning on doing a little ride in the streets, but the ice was so rutted that it was scary - thought that I was going to hit the deck twice in the first three blocks. Scooted over to the paths and they were pockmarked from all of the foot traffic - not great, I still had to be pretty cautious, but better than the streets.

crashed again this morning. Landed on the same wrist as last time, and now my opposite elbow is all banged up. Bike seems ok, Wheels are straight no bent spokes. My tape which was already on the way out is shredded on the left side, and my left shifter won’t win in beauty contest.
I was on the cap trail, (mup) and these three mouth breathers were walking towards me side by side. They saw me coming but made no attempt to make room for me. I went around them on the edge of the mup and of course this one spot had mud. Went down hard. *******s were polite enough to tell me I must have hit ice, and they kept walking.
Anywho looks like I am wrapping bars today, First time for everything so if anybody has any tricks or trade secrets let me know.
Manager at my LBS swears by ESI tape, I don’t know if anyone carries that in my area. I really like the tape on my wife’s bike but I can’t figure out what it is, and it’s not the tape listed on the trek website. The gripytac looks cool, but the texture feels rough?

Yeah, it's not super stretchy, so it's a little more work to keep tension on it to keep the edges tight in the curves. Install is the only not-so-stellar thing about Grippytack.
