A couple evenings of tinkering and a wheelset I had sorted out months ago resulted in the following. Everything came apart nicely, nothing was broken or unduly worn. The fixed cup BB was loose and the rear shifter had the ratcheting plate installed backwards. New consumables and the bike is ready to roll again.

Fantastic job! But, c'mon, you can't just leave it at that. How did you get it beautiful again? Did some parts needs polishing? Did the gunk come off easily?

Polish on the frame and a few of the gunkier parts to get them back in shape but otherwise it was just a case of bad garage dust. Whoever owned it previously didn't ride it much.
