Ahh, you Portland guys just need to set a regular date during decent weather months and have a regular route. Get the word out and, in the words of John Crump, “just ride the bloody bikes!”, have fun with a casual pace and dine at a nice rest stop.

Hope to see a thread about a new PDX Vintage ride soon!

That would be, uh, July, August, and maybe September. I can vouch for the fact that it never rains in California (SoCal, to be precise), having matriculated at Occidental College in '77, so very close to Pasadena. So it's hard to have a sustained monthly event when you can't count on good weather. Also please note that the population you draw from in SoCal is at least 10X what it is in Portland.

We do have Bob Freeman's annual vintage bike ride and show, his vintage bike porn cannot be beat anywhere. I've put on a Ride Wrench and Grill a couple of times with a good turnout. Pedalpalooza is a sustained month of bicycle related events. These are things I don't see happening in SoCal. So it's just different, but we do get together.

The monthly Pasadena ride is a unique event. When I retire from my day job in a few years I plan on trying to make it down every once in awhile!

I'm gonna' hafta' join the retro ride one of these times. I ride an '84 Peugeot PH10LE that I bought new. It still looks and runs as good as the day I bought it, and yes, it still wears the Helicomatic rear end it came with.

Oxy, huh? My parents dragged me to the outdoor theatre every summer. I learned to love Gilbert & Sullivan.

I am glad to see the Pasadena ride still going strong after all these years. Great photos, and some very nice machinery.

Thanks for the invite!

I don't live in the LA area though, I am there fairly frequently though, and I almost always have at least one bike with me, I'm sure the timing will work out at some point, but it won't be this month :-(

No worries come thru whenever you can.

It was mentioned that the day will reach 100 this coming ride. Remember to hydrate, wear sunblock and dont over exert yourself.

The parade and game are never held on Sunday because NCAA rules don't allow games to be played on Sunday and they wouldn't dare have the parade and game on different days. Personally, I couldn't care less about either one of them.

I’m probably not riding this weekend, temps look to be 95-97 degrees and clear and sunny, just too hot for me. Also have been fighting a cough/URI for the past 6 days and just don’t want to take chances.

Hope everyone who is there this week rides safely, hydrates well, and heeds any signs of heat overload.

Good turnout for todays ride with some new faces, hot weather and some nice bikes. We came to the finish with a great surprise from one of our riders. He couldnt make the ride so he met us with oranges, apples and cold water at the finish. Thanks a bunch Vic.

Wow! If I make it next month, please don't post a picture of my bike. I clearly doesn't belong in that group.

Nice pictures, malcala622, you beat me to it. I was too pooped to post last night. Here's some of mine, trying not to duplicate yours. Lots of eye candy, not melted by the heat.

Pretty 50s Carlton...

...with Benelux drivetrain.

Manny's nice Concorde (pre-flat tire).

Ready to roll!

Here's a few more. I wimped out and missed last month, when it was only 93°. Hotter today, but worth it. Great ride!

Interesting shifter set-up on the Land Shark.

Father - daughter bikes

Powerade and Pizza, mostly downhill home.

Non vintage Garmin on my Raleigh. Heart rate almost matched the temp. My Garmin usually reads about 10° high. Today, I was inclined to believe it! Still, Good Times!

Great work on those Pictures Guys! a BIG Thanks to Victor for providing some much needed cold water and oranges at the Post Ride.

Had a great time and met some cool new riders. I endured the heat pretty well this time, Luckily I flatted at the Coffee House and made my repair in the shade drinking an Iced Coffee!

The heat didn't turn out to be as predicted. Temperature started out at 82 degrees at 11am and when we were eating at Beantown in Sierra Madre Village it was 91 degrees with a nice breeze and high clouds. Nice turnout of around 20 riders and some newcomers with kool bikes to boot!

Any day you are ridding your bike is a great day...

Is that your 2nd straight flat on this ride? Bad luck!

What was the incline grade % on that hill in San Diego? Looked like a tough one. Gotta have Eroica gearing!

That coastal segment is sweet, but wow, no shoulder to ride on at all.
