Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Yeah. I just abused my first one. Got to the point where it kept out no water. I finally re-treated it this spring, but it does not keep out the water like it used to. I'd use it for commuting, but I wouldn't trust it for something like having to descend from nearly 8,000' in rain and wet snow.

This is more problematic with big vehicles and, in my experience, people in big vehicles rarely know how to drive the damn things.
In my experience the good will maintained by not annoying motorists > the risk of this happening.

By the way, some of you should look into anger management exercises.

Why would good will be harmed by positioning myself such that they can make a right turn without crossing in front of my forward path? My lane positioning wouldn't keep them from turning on the red. Most right-turning drivers seem to understand and appreciate the effort.

I also don’t ride the gutter up to the front of a line of cars. Better to claim a spot and practice my standing sprint.

Surface treatments are pretty useless, I’ve found. With some fabrics, e.g. unlined Goretex, a mild ironing or ride in the dryer will restore resistance, but one these things fail you can never trust them with your life again.

Not even doing to look at the markets today. Made the mistake of seeing futures before trading started. Dow was down 900 points, which translated to slightly over 3%.

Sometimes I do if I'm making a turn, especially if it's on a hill.

Generically, I'm up to the crosswalk and far enough to the left that someone could pass behind/to the right (unless I'm at an intersection with a no turn on red). Sometimes that puts me at the left side of the right lane, some times that puts me at the right side of the right lane with a right turn lane next to me.

No interest in MTB trails, not Mormon (or whatever that is).

I never tried to stock up but it seemed like the pharmacy only wants to give you so much MTX per month.

Another good book I recommend, is called "Under the Banner of Heaven" by Jon Krakauer. First part deals mostly with history of Mormon church. Second part deals with FLDS who are "fundamentalist" Mormons.

Very good read.

BTW the Mormon Church is telling us we should call them Latter Day Saints and not Mormons. They are trying to get away from the old label.

Read that on tour last year.

A former co-worker of mine toured the new temple they built on 18th St., a couple of blocks from our office. On nice days there would sometimes be someone hanging outside encouraging you to come in for a tour. She said it's an amazing place. Now that it has been blessed or whatever they do to it, non-Mormons are not allowed inside.

Krakauer is a good writer. "Into Thin Air", for example.

In olde town Merida, the colonial buildings are sacred. Nonetheless the Mormon church has an entire block. Someone had some greasy hands.
